It took my son to Ocean and on the last day the empty space next to us was occupied by two rv'ers in one spot, they put up an out door tent cover and move the picknick table right next to our trailer. I opened the curtin and saw nothing but canvas. There wasn't an inch to get us unhooked and out of there. Then one of them came up and said "what'ed you pay for that?" no hello or kiss my a**, rude to the maximum. I'm glad we were leaving, it would have been a bad time.
RandACampin you take the cake. I'll bet you're the family that lives 10 miles from me. It's all about you isn't it? Hope I can make your next trip convenient & easy. You've made a name for yourself with this post. Stay the he(( away from me and my kids in the campground.
Didn't anyone think maybe going the wrong way was accidental...or thought he could back the RV up better that way?...
My outlook is what comes around goes around...and belive you me...it won't be pretty when ther time comes around.
Life is to short to let a few bug you...or for that matter shoot you if your looking for trouble(referring to blocking in buddy to clean up, mind u I would of done that 10 years ago...but not today).
Interesting thread and some interesting answers... I would think there are some campers that are uneducated in camping etiquette and I would also think there are some that just don't care...
I would think there are some that you could approach and talk to (civilly!!) and they would thank you for it, and there would be some that would tell you exactly where to go ...
There are a lot of new campers coming on to the scene... What with the economy the way it is, camping in some respects is still a pretty economical getaway for the family, even considering the price of fuel these days...
I also believe that what we are seeing, at least to some degree, is very reminiscent to those commercials running on TV now where the the theme song is: "I want it all, I want it all, and I want it now!!!" This seems to reflect a lot of the personalities and attitudes we personally run into these days...
We've been RV'ing for almost 3 decades now and there has definitely been a quantum shift in RV'ing behavior and attitudes... I dunno, maybe all those "Dr. Spock" generations are coming back to haunt us now, or perhaps it's something else that I'm not seeing, but again, there has definitely been a change in attitudes and behavior from the folks we camped with in our early days...
How would I handle this - well - most of the time I just put up with it, sometimes I say something nicely BUT I retire in about 60 days and my plan is to go camping when most everyone else is working ... Perhaps an occasional weekend trip, but for us, it will be primarily weekday camping during the spring, summer, and fall... The granddaughter and I will have our favorite fishing spot all to ourselves

I was put in a pull through this weekend that I could not get out of due to the location of trees and the length of my combo. Once in, the owner of the park warned me of the situation. suggested I back in and proceed the wrong way out as it was easiest for everyone involved. All you rule mongers need to lighten up, its only camping for most of us. Its not like someones getting on the interstate the wrong direction.
It sure is interesting how easy it is to strike a nerve in people. I don't think there was any ill intent meant by anyone on this forum. The RV community is not really any different then any other social community, and you will always find people with different types of behaviour. We are all ignorant at something we have done in our lives, lets not lose sight of that while we are all castings stones..
this time around we've been camping maybe 1/3 the length of LAdams but even in that ammount of time i have seen a change in some of my fellow campers-luckily they are still in the miniority.
i beleive these people really feel that the rules of civilized society, common scense and courtsey only apply to everyone else and not to them. i will see someone do something really off the wall and wonder what, if anything is running through their head.
luckily i have only witnessed minor things which is probably a good thing. like when some idiot parks next to you and flings their door open and bangs yours--while the DW is sitting there waiting while i ran for something--and doesn't even say opps or sorry but just leaves like nothing happened. never seems to happen when i'm there.
as for garbage in the yard-try living on a dead end street that is on the way to a subdivision. add to that my corner is also a bus stop. the worst are the young mommies. i've seen them drive THROUGH the persons yard across the street to turn around. and i've seriously considered tire spikes next door to me is a village pump house with a nice, wide, long cement driveway. i actually had to tell my neighbor that the tire tracks in her yard wasn't me trying to back my TT into my driveway.
then there are the dog walkers(i have 3 myself and do clean up after them) that seem to have no problem letting them do their thing in your yard-as long as it isn't their yard and they would have to pick up after them.
i think instead or/or addition to all the socker games, T ball, play dates, teddy bear factory, jamborrie and most of the other 'activities' i think are stupid they should sign their kids(wouldn't hurt some parents either) for scouts.
been more years than i care to think about since cub scouts but i do remember one thing-"let no one say, and say it to your shame, that all was beauty until you came"
i was raised by a 'no nonescense' father(read into that, there were rules and you followed then-or else) that you respected other peoples property and if you made a mess, you cleaned it up PERIOD

I have yet to figure out why people cannot figure out how to dump their sewage without getting it all over the ground...when the fill their rig with gasoline, they don't splash it all over the side and on the ground do they? (especially when the stuff costs almost $4 a gallon!)
All you need is a sewer hose with two fittings on it...one that fits the pipe on the rig, and another with a right-angle bend on it...total investment... $20 or so
Hook one end of the hose to the RV, place the other end of the hose in the hole at the dump station.... then pull the handle!
Now, with this aside, I did stay at one place where the dump station had a partial clog and couldn't handle the uncontrolled flow down the hose from a fully opened valve. I pulled the handle and the stuff started flowing. Next thing I noticed was that the stuff started running back up out the hole! I wonder if this is what happened at some of the dump stations left messy. Still, one should at least wash down the ground with the hose if they have a backup.
