I wonder if someone can tell me what the best method is to prep the nose of my 5ER? We are leaving for flagstaff AZ. and would like to easily remove them each day on the way there and back.

Good Luck. These bugs can cover and stick on most anything that hits them at a highway speeds. I don't know of anything that helps that much. I have tried pam, wax and those dryer sheets. They may help a little, but then you have to spend the time putting it on.

When en-route, if I want to rid the front cap of bugs, I take one bucket of water, one spray bottle of bug remover and one long handled truck brush. I wet the front with the brush dipped in the bucket. I then spray the bug remover on the brush and go over the whole area. It takes about two more passes with the brush, bug remover and water, but the bugs come off. Then I dump remaining water out of the bucket and go in the fiver and rest.

Some folks recommend Bounce Dryer Sheets (wet them first). I haven't tried them yet but plan to because I'm going to be driving through clouds of love bugs soon...

Just about every brand of dryer sheets I've used does a fine job of removing bugs, if you can reach them. As mentioned, wet the sheets first and wipe the bugs away. Doesn't take much elbow grease.

Dryer sheets and Windex. Spray the bugs, let it soak a minute and wipe with any kind of dryer sheets. Rinse with paper towels,it will be a mess if they are real bad, but this works like a charm and is easy. Being from TX and LA we have had lots of experience! You haven't lived until you have driven through Love-bugs for a couple of days!

Amen on the Love Bugs. We use Power Purple from Auto Zone, let it soak for a couple of minutes, hit it with a brush and rinse.

I've tried the wet dryer sheets and they work well.

On my Harley windshield, I will get a towel good and wet; then I will place it over the windshield for 10 minutes or so. This softens up the bugs and they wipe right off. I have not tried it on the camper front yet. The Oregon rain and snow has been doing a good job so far.

We use Rain-X frequently on our windshield and it seems to make the process of removing the bugs much easier. We initially use the dryer sheets along with clean water and then once they are gone we hit it once again with Windex or another coat of Rain-X.

We keep our bra installed during the spring/summer bug season and it protects the front of the motor home. The bugs will wash right off of it with a garden hose.

A friend told me that on his 5th wheel he found a good answer for the bugs. He said that before each trip he mixes about a quart of liquid Calgon and a quart of water in a bucket and then uses a long handled wash brush and he coats the entire front surface of the RV. He allows it to dry without washing it off. Then he says that after they have driven through thousands of bugs that he can use the dampened dryer sheets and the bugs will come right off. Supposedly the Calgon makes the surface so slick that the bugs hardly even stick to the surface.
I have not actually seen this done but it does make sense and I guess that it would work as well on any surface other than glass, so it should also work on any kind or a trailer just as good.
I have no idea what the Calgon would do to the waxed surface.
Maybe someone else can tell us more about that.
