My wife and I moved. Our old internet was on ATT DSL and now it's Time Warner Cable. We have 3 computers which were working through a router. What changes need to be made to get our router working again with cable? We have a Netgear router and I have no clue where the manual is! All the wiring is correct and plugged in the same way it was with DSL. Internet is great and screaming fast if hooked up right to the modem. THANKS!
You should be able to access the router owner's manual on the internet at the Netgear web site. Just hook up direct long enough to download it. Then follow the instructions in the manual to reset the device to the factory default state so you are starting from a "known state". Finally, just follow the instructions for setup and troubleshooting.
While you are on line check the Time Warner Cable setup instructions. They probably have some help on "standard setup" for various common routers that might be of help.
Good luck with it.

I've also see were some providers modem's IP address might be the same as your router, so one has to be changed manually before it'll work, where they were different with your old service. Those Linksys routers seem to be on the same IP as alot of modems, and have to be changed.
Log into the router and change the connection.. With AT&T DSL you choose PPoE you need to change it to something else. it's that simple
To log into the router you need it's lan-side IP address I'm not sure what the netgear default is but I can tell you two ways to find it, PLEASE USE THE FIRST even if you use the 2nd and it works
1: Go to Netgear's home page, customer support, and download the manual to your hard drive (Side note: Do this for all your manuals, real easy to find them)
2: up through windows XP (Don't now about vista) you can open a command prompt, type IPCONFIG /ALL
or IPCONFIG *
Depending on the Windows version (Wrong extensions get the help file so don't worry) Look for the "GATEWAY" and/or "DNS" addresses
Then open your browser and put http:// in front of them
For example with a D-link
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
So I point my browser to http:192.168.0.1
Then I need to know the password
Don't know the password... Press the RESET button and
1: It will suddenly work (since it will forget the PPoE setting) and 2: the default password in the manual will now work. Do change it
Also change the wi-fi channel and SSID if it's a wi-fi router
Please avoid channel 1

Problem resolved! I did the router reset, but it didn't work. I powered down the router and modem, re set the router again, and that didn't work! Then I downloaded the manual from Netgear (as suggested) and they recommended powering down the router, modem and computer, then powering up in a specific order....modem, router then computer....and it worked. Every time I need computer help, you guys pull through!! I really appreciate it. THANKS!!
