I wonder if the local dealer is sometimes making a bet that, in the end, you won't travel for the deal. When I gave our local dealer the last chance at the deal, the best he could do was $7,000 more than the offer I had. He also warned me that I wouldn't really be getting an Everest for the price I told him I had. Well, suffice it to say, I got the Everest and only had to travel 300 miles which was fine because it was in a beautiful area of the country that I had never visited before.

I did a ton of research, found the exact unit I wanted...and then emailed dealers in TX, OK, and LA for their best price on what I wanted.

The K-Z dealer in Buda, TX (southeast of Austin) had the best deal. After a few rounds of negotiations, I was able to get my 5'ver for 71% of MSRP. This price included a Reese Signature Series 18K hitch (non-slide) installed, 7-pin wiring relocated to my bed, a 50 Amp surge protector, and $75 for goodies needed (water pressure regulator, water lines, etc.). They had the unit I wanted in stock. I was there the next Friday to pick it up.

Interesting...I was emailed a quote from another dealer that included a price sheet for their actual cost (it was hidden in the spreadsheet - used for their calculations). At least for K-Z, I know what the dealer pays for them. Even with the deal I got, they still made 10%.

I'm in the market for the same trailer that you have. I live over near Dallas and Buda is just a few hours away. How about sending me that spreadsheet because I would LOVE to get 71% off MRSP. Also, if you could tell me who your sales guy is, now that would be helpful.

Absolutely yes - I'm now two for two, and that's clearly what they assume. I'm still in the middle of my deal and when I get it closed I'll post the details. All I'll say for now is that the stupidity of the "local" dealerships is MIND-BOGGLING to me.

One extra "f" and bad math starts going on here.

"71% of" is "29% off" not "71% off".

and... as posted elsewhere "MSRP" is an elusive number - which can swing the "off" or "of" by 10+ points quite easily.

Yes, that is 29% off...or 71% of MSRP.

I'm fairly confident of the MSRP or at least the different dealers I got quotes from were all working from the same bank of numbers.

If you are still interested in working with Marshall's Travelland (knowing that 79% OFF is NOT POSSIBLE) in Buda, send me a PM and I'll pass on any info I can. They were excellent to work with. I would buy from them again without hesitation.

You might check with Tiara RV at http://www.tiararvsales.com/. They have a great knowledge of their trailers and will work with you. It sure saves a lot of hassleing with dealers. I'm not affliated with them, but they sure have been honest with me.
