The "whole thing" is flexible enough that it flexes and put the door into a bind. Had the door been OPEN and the coach leveled...you cant close it.

Major Pain? You betchum Red Ryder..a PITA of the 10th magnitude

Oh yeah. I know a guy who broke 2 windshields by his poor leveling practices. It's amazing how much force one jack can put on a coach/chassis when applied wrong.

There are 24 hours in every day - it all depends on how you choose to use them.

It might be appropriate to contact the factory and have them arrange to take it back to the factory for repairs or supply a new one. If the shop in Mesa has been TRYING? to fix one for a month there is no way I would bring mine to them.

Just the thought of mechanics working on a repair of any kind for a month and not getting decent results would scare the pants off some folks, including me.. would do as some would suggest, and go some where else for work.. remember, this coach will be with you for a while, and gas won;t get much cheaper, and the ride to Nappanne might give you the peace of mind that will last longer than the worry a 30day fix it will give you...

The OP said "Finally we had to drop it back on the wheels and turn off the refrigerator......"

Did you have the wheels off the ground? Whether it has anything to do with your problem or not, you should Never lift your motorhome wheels off the ground with your leveling jacks.

It sounds as though you may have twisted the frame, causing the door the bind abd not open. It may be time to review your leveling procedures before making a service appointment.

Thanks for the replies. The first thing we did was to call the Newmar service rep. I thought the jacks were the problem but the Newmar service rep. said he doubted that and asked us to go to a dealers service department. The door was closed when I leveled.
All of the wheels were still in contact with the ground. As I stated we were on a concrete pad and fairly level, just down on the rear. Distant Drum campground is one of the fanciest I've ever seen and the pads are pretty level side to side.

Our Grand Star is on a Workhorse 24/25 chassis. It's a 3752 model with the front kitchen.

The MOHO that was damaged was our Pace Arrow.

OK, I give, what does this have to do with leveling? Sorry, having a slow night with the rusty ole cogs in the belfry.

I know of another manufacturer that was having problems with a particular floorplan similar to one offered on the Grand Star, but not the one that you have. Was just a theory.

We have HWH jacks (on three MH's so far) and have NEVER had a problem with frame twisting when lifting the entire unit completely off the ground. I did have the unit roll once when I got the rears completely off the ground, but never any other problems. Even HWH themselves says it's not a problem to lift the front wheels completely off the ground, just so you don't lift both rear wheels off at the same time. We do it all the time when necessary. Still no binding or popped windshields or doors not closing even with all three slides out. HWH says the system is designed to lift the entire MH off the ground, so we do. When stored beside the stick house I have the front wheels off the ground for weeks at a time, still no problems and I run the slides in and out as necessary too. When I change the shocks I lift the unit up with the jacks, no problem. If I needed to change a tire I'd use the jacks to lift the tire off the ground also.

Evaporative refrigerators aren't supposed to be operated in a non-level condition, except when running down the road.

If...IF the problem IS "frame flex".??...Aint no "dealer" in the world that can actually FIX it. I'd check it 100% and if it is..Id be right back to the factory or to the dealer and demand my $$$ back

For what it's worth, we stayed at an RV Resort this winter in Florida near a Grand Star. They loved it. I think the headline 'Beware' might be a little over kill. Workhorse makes a pretty good chassis. Had a W22 before our DSDP. No chassis problems.
