I have a 05 Montana Big Sky and want to take my Gold Wing with me on trips. I have seen a lot of posts concerning this topic but nothing about how it has worked after the people have towed the Swivel Wheel with their rig.
Has anyone used this type of rig lately? How has it worked out and how did it pull? Have you had any problems with law enforcement?
I live in Tennessee and mainly will use it in my home state, which, is legal for a double tow.
Let me know.
Thanks

used one many years ago when backing up they tend to dump whats in the trailer dont know if the new ones do that or not but i would get the two wheel model if i got one not the one wheel model the tires on them used to be very hard to change.they have been around a long time had one way back in the 60s got it used pretty cheap and found out why when i used it.the new ones might be designed better then the old ones.

We have one on our 03 Big Sky. It is the two wheel SmartTrailer and works very well for us. We've traveled several thousand miles with it with no problems. Here is a shot: http://home.kc.rr.com/howandpeg/In%20the%20Badlands.jpg. There are issues you have to solve since the bike sits sideways instead of facing front to back.
I can give you more info if you want, just PM me.

It doesn't appear that the smart trailer has a swivel wheel. Do you have a wheel scuff when turning or backing? I've been thinking about building one similar to the swivel wheel or smart trailer and am looking for different "wheel" ideas.

I built my own using suspension from doublehitch.com. Works fine. I have it attached to the back of my Samurai toad. There is a picture of it in the photo section on Doublehitch web site.

I saw one of these toy-tote attached to a 5er in the parking lot at wally world. I liked it so much I sat there in my truck waiting for the owner to return so I could talk to him about it.

OK, another question: (and not intended to over-take the original post). In as much as the 5er chuck when going over bridges and bumps, etc (I have a trailAire so this is not about the chucking), how do you prevent stress from occurring at the "hitch-point" between the "trailer" wheel and the 5er wheels? I would think that a straight receiver connection would not allow flex and therefore test the frame or the swivel axle.
Any thoughts???
Thanks in advance...

All the swivelwheel type trailers have a type of hitch that will allow the trailer to move up and down independently from the tow vehicle. The SmartTrailer has two ball hitches that allows the trailer hitch to move up and down.

I too just came across the swivel wheel attachment and I am curious if anyone has one and can tell me how it worked for them. This is an interesting option and about the only option that I can see which would safely allow me to carry my motorcycle. Any thoughts on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
