I work at one of those parks right now and it is FULL this weekend! And Memorial Day Weekend, and July 4th weekend. I see lots of rigs on the toad. I'm also seeing people staying longer at one place. We have ~ 20 monthly spots and they are all full.
The guy next to me is a full-timer (part time) and he stated that last year, he went from place to place, never staying for more than a couple of days. NOW he is doing a monthly rental and plans to be here for at least 3 months.
Prices would have to go up pretty far before people stop completely.

Maybe the reverse will happen.
More people trying to save money will give up their house / rental and take to the RV life. Then the crowds will be more.
Unless we get more w/ solar who can boondock - if you can find a place that's legal...

I'm finding some parks are quite full! This RV park was officially closed until April 15th, but we came on the 2nd. The owners had a great spot for us for the next few months. Larger site and cheaper than some parks and we even have a concrete pad. It's one of the nicer ones in the area.
They seem pretty full with Seasonal's and a few others who come and go. Weekends are busy, but then we've some nice weather mixed in with the bad!
I think more will plant themselves and stay longer like we've always done as FTer's.

During the winter months it is hard to get a site in south Texas as the snow birds have filled up everything. Pretty bad when a natinve texasn is displaced by a foreigner.

I-29 in Northwest Missouri has a lot of RVs going both north and south.
I drive it Monday through Friday for work and have been envying everyone of them. Just joking. I wish I was one of them on the road instead of heading to work or home from work.
I hope they have a wonderful time where ever they are going.

Dang, I was hoping for better news. Since it cost us $547 in fuel to make it from Dayton, OH to Scottsbluff, NE, I was hoping for more low cost vacancies. We had to stop over here in Nebraska for 8 days waiting for payday so we could buy more diesel fuel to continue our trip to Yellowstone. We will be staying a month in 1 town/place instead of our usual 1 week to help defray costs. But this is ridiculous.
It's not fun to have to make reservations for every little move. What's going happen to the freedom of the road Nomad lifestyle if you have to plan/reserve campsites every time your feet get itchy. Is the high cost of campsites/fuel and the unavailability of campsites the beginning of the end for "on the road" full-timing? Just food for thought.

There's usually at least one spot available here and there unless you're looking for an RVP in a high tourist area. Summer of 2006, weekend was so full in Wmsburg, VA that there were 3 or more RV's in the overflow that had to boondock. But that's was rare.
Laura was talking about the 20 FT sites where she's workamping being filled. Her RVP has other spots for a night, a week or even 8 days, but especially not on Holiday weekends.
Being FT, it's more about picking your locations and traveling when the other's aren't....

Unfortunately the world doesn't stop to wait for us to decide where we want to camp. If you camp in popular areas you will need reservations for peak season. Otherwise its pretty much not an issue.
This is one of those things you can either adapt to pretty easily or let it get you down.

Lots of RV's on the road here in Vegas. Also, most parks have waiting lists going for monthly summer sites. Parks are NOT cheap here either.
