Can the Sprinter Bs be registered as a van? In the way that PWs and RTs (save for the 210) can? Or is it a motorhome?
Yes....I'm all over the buying map again. Yeesh
Why Full-Timing? Because at my age, I have maybe 40 more chances to see flowers bloom.

I think I have mentioned this before... my RT RS is registered as a passenger vehicle in the great state of NC.
Handbasket (thanks again) gave me the tip and my tenacious wife did the rest.

I registered mine as an rv, it is cheaper than a passenger vehicle here. I think it's because they don't expect an rv to be used daily.

Ours is also registered as an RV (in Minnesota). The tabs are much cheaper that way.

So it depends upon which state you are registering in or does it depend upon what you decide?

I'd check your local DMV and see which is cheaper. You can probably go either way, but I'd just about bet calling it an rv costs less.

Also, if given a choice, some folks don't wanna be registered as an RV due to HOA rules.
In AR, on B's, the registrattion defaults to being a cargo van due to the VIN.... ya hafta ask for it to be registered as an rv.
Also, on models with split manufacture years (2008 model on 2007 chassis) you may have to decide:
1. 2007 model cargo van
OR
2. 2008 model motorhome
Then there may be insurance considerations....

Oy.
Well, I do want to register it as a van...but....I'll be all over the US and I haven't decided yet what state to use as a residence (think SD for many tax related reasons).
I guess I want to know things like: If I'm boondocking in a city somewhere (anywhere in the country), aren't I better off if it's a van than an RV, if I get that odd knock on the door from a cop?
Bottom line is...I want to be left in peace as much as possible, and if a Sprinter won't allow for that, then the gain in liveability is lost for me.

Passenger vehicle registration is certainly the least restrictive.
I doubt if you'll fool any cops or defeat any resident parking restrictions but there are actually other reasons to be stealthy. Vehicles with air dams, logos, tv aerials and the like scream "rv, loaded with goodies" to the local urchins. Out-of-state plates just confirm what a good non-testifying victim you'll make.
So if you want to be "stealthy", stick with a plain "vanilla" vehicle.
Personally, we live in the city and like a bit of big-city culture here and there on our travels. We just use discretion about reasonably safe places to park in a city.
Lonely trailheads are the main risk for frequent boondockers like us. We can lock up our camera, laptop, ipod. Insurance is supposed to cover the rest.
Life is not without risk.
