ATTENTION 5TH WHEEL MANUFACTURER'S: Instead of charging us $4K+ for a "Big Foot" or similar 4 point electric or hydraulic leveling system which most of us don't want on our 5'er anyway, give this some consideration if you haven't already done so. Make center point suspension airbag's an option with 3" of vertical travel. Install an onboard 110 volt air compressor capable of reinflating the airbags independently. When we unhitch our 5'er, we level side to side using the suspension airbags by inflating or deflating the suspension airbags! Any more than 3" and you wouldn't park on a site that unlevel anyhow! Then as usual, we can level front to back by raising and lowering the front landing jacks which you have to do anyway to unhitch. Whadda ya'll think??? Boooyahhhhhh!!!!!!
Happy camping!!! See ya'll down the road!!!

You could just load the compressor in your truck or fiver and when you get there and need to raise one side a couple of inches just let the air out of your tires on the other side to level out. When you are ready to leave just air your tires back up to normal inflation pressure.

I thought about doing that with some ride rite air bags I removed from my f-150. Too bad they didn't have enough travel though.
Anyway that would be a great option for a 5er. Maybe someday they'll design one.

Somebody did try that and found it too expensive to produce. Their research showed it would only work on larger trailers that had space for the compressor and air tank plus switches and valve assembly.
They then shifted their attention to an air ride centerpoint suspension system which was more economical in the long run, both for them and the consumer.

How do you contain vertical linear movement while traveling with the airbags deflated? The present suspension allow wheels/axles to travel up and down within spring system. To lifting the chassis above the axles to level may require some sort of mod in order to gain enough travel. I'm not sure it would be the same as when you jack up a vehicle using the frame and having the wheels hang down.
Interesting though.

I think someone already offers that. But I've been to so many camper shows and read so many fliers I can't remember who. But their system was more for leveling the load for traveling.
But I'd think it would help with leveling for parking too.
I've considered modifying my own centerpoint system to a two line system. All it would take would be some more of that little plastic tubeing, another gauge and a schrader valve. Probably cost less than $25. And the littlest chicken-heart 12volt compressor in the world would pump up to 30psi. And the volume of the air bags is like a bicycle tire, so it would have fairly quick response.
Tell you what, you try it and let us know how you like it. Then maybe I will.
