Just make sure mama likes the floor plan. If mama ain't happy, nobody is going to be happy. The rest is what fits your budget. We have a 5r with mor-ryde hitch and suspension and I hope my next trailer has it. It sure makes a big difference on some of our lovely UofS highways and interstate such as I-10 thru Louisiana. There are sections of the road there that will rattle your teeth.

WE went from a tt to a 5th wheel this year, we searched the Internet for a floor plan we liked, then narrowed it down to a price range we wanted, then we went searching for a dealer that would stand behind their product. Bought a 2008 Keystone Challenger 34 SAQ Platinum Addition. Bought the 8 year full warranty. We love it and have had zero problems. Previously owned 3 jayco products, love them as well, but must say the 2007 28' tt Jayco had to go back 4 times to the dealer for repairs that popped up each of the first four times we took it out. That doesn't make keystone better than Jayco, Its just one of those things where it had some flaws which their are stories like that with each product out their.

We just traded to a Carriage Cameo and absolutely love it. We have only camped in it one time so far and in my opinion, it is very solid and well built. The bathroom is on the side, separate bedroom and the kitchen has plenty of space. We love being able to see the tv in all angles and it feels like a home.

If you haven't checked out the Heartland 5ers you should before you make that investment. They have several units is all price ranges From Landmark, Bighorn, Big country, etc.

From your list the Carriage is the one with the best construction. It will probably be the heaviest also. The others can be fine rigs it just depends how you are going to use it and as others have said floorplan is extremely important. Good luck on your quest.

Storage, doesn't sound that important but if you don't have enough it will drive you crazy. Also the Tow Vehicle, make sure it has the power to do the job. If it's marginal on paper it probably not enough. I also suggest you consider some kind of Hitch pin assistance, TrailAir, Moride, Airborne, etc. They really do make a difference. And last but not least floor plan, if this is your first RV you will spend more time in it than you think and you may as well have the room and comforts. An RV is a major investment, check out each unit closely and as previously mentioned spend as much time as you need inside, think about how you will you it and where you will want to put things. Here, here. I'll second this one. We boought our '94 Carri-lite 4 years ago and love it. Use it so often that we have to even get our work related attire out of it when we manage to have it home.
Have looked at other units and dreamed of a new one, butt until we can afford a newer Carriage product, will not even consider another.

Bought a Forest River Chreokee Lite 5th wheel. I was going to buy it online but a local dealer wgave us a price within $200 of the online price, and did the dealer prep. I've been really happy with the product so far...then again, with the size of my family, it was the only one with a floorplan of a quad bunk + a U-style Dinette area we could find.
