My bad lower back simply will not tolerare one more night around the campfire in one of those $6 collapsible/folding camp chairs that are in every camping section of every big box store. It absolutely ruins my trip.
Any suggestions for a good camp chair? We car camp, and bring 2 vehicles, so bulk & weight isn't my first concern, although it's on my list of things to consider. At the top of my list would be good lower back support, nice cush for my tush, and maybe even a cupholder. I don't even care about the cost.
Thanks!

There is an excellent chair available from Calcarcovers.com (California Car Covers) - they call it a directors chair - made by Picnic Time. It has a very sturdy aluminum frame, a table attached to one side and assorted pockets in a removable flap on the other. It has a higher seat and straighter back - my 280# husband loves it because it is sturdy and comfortable. It does not have that bar across the front to cut into your legs, either. I am not nearly that heavy, but I do have lower back problems and, like you, hate those you describe. It folds to about 3" thick and has a carrying strap. It weighs about 8# or so and is comfortable to carry. Not cheap, tho - costs abot $58 plus $5 or so for shipping. They are guaranteed for life. Everywhere we take ours, we get comments and questions about where to get them. If you were anywhere near Nashville, we have some friends who sell them for about $10 less but they don't ship them.

Try this type of gravity chairs available just about anywhere. We got 2 at WalMart, and my wife and I both have bad backs, and find these very comfortable, light weight, easy to get in and out of, and store easily.

I also hate those chairs and they make my back hurt, too. We have some 'backpack' chairs that we use on the beach, but they sit a little too low to the ground for the campground.
I bought a Cabela's chaise lounge for my DW for Christmas and it is VERY comfortable. I was very impressed with the chair and the price on sale is very nice, too.

If you have a Sams Club in you area, look at the chairs they have. They sell for about $22. My wife has severe back problems and this is the only chair she is comfortable in. They colaspe, but are cloth with padding sewn in. They also have a side table that swings up w/cup holder. We both now have them and leave all the others at home. I might add these chairs sell for around $60. everywhere else.

We purchased these Coleman Camping Chairs almost two years ago. We love them and friends we camp with are always asking about them and sayingn how comfortable they are. They are very durable, yet lightweight.

I also have a very bad lower back. I use a plane old card chair.
It lets me be able to sit up straight in a nice upright position.
I got mine at Wal-Mart for $10 bucks..
It also folds nice and flat and is easy to store..
In my truck I use an orthopedic back rest seat. If it wasn't for this seat, I couldn't go on long trips.
It's called a Sacro-Ease seat..it's made in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho.
and I highly recommend it, for people with bad lower back problems.
Good RVing to you,
Harry

Take advice above, and DO NOT sit in a LaFuma unless you are carrying real money.
Why? Cause if you try it, you will buy it, and they aren't cheap.
Just my two cents, and worth it.

I just ordered one of the chairs from Cabela's that some other folks are talking about for my wife for Mother's Day. Some friends of ours have a couple of them and they are very comfy. $49 is a very good price on them but shipping is $20 but it's still cheaper than driving 80 miles round trip to Camping World to get it. BTW, CW shipping on the same chair is $30.
