Another one that leaves the head in the reciever, bars are left in too unless I'm going somewhere, then I pull the bars out and either leave them in the truck bed (in plain sight) or sit them on the front of the trailer frame. Leaving the bars on the hitch head when carrying it makes it easier to balance, as long as your not going far.

Those won't work for Equalizer bars, but the idea is still good.

I just throw the bars in the back of my truck and leave the hitch head in the receiver. It doesn't bother me to leave that one when we're camping. I always have a locking pin on that. At home, the hitch head comes off and goes in the garage.

I do need to do the PVC mod that 4HPYCMPRS and others have done for the bars.

Hitch head stays locked in place on the van and the bars go into the front driver's side storage in the trailer.

My Expedition is hard enough to parallel park without the battering ram on the back!

Chuck...ha...that's why I leave it on. Makes people think before they get too close to my rear bumper.

Mine too, go into tubing - I used black ABS piping with thread-on end caps, love it and it works great. As for the hitch head, I remove it from my TV and then hook the ball back up to the coupler and use my coupler lock. The she just hangs there 'til we leave.

Here is a link to the entire mod: Equal-i-zer spring bar storage! !

have you ever thought that someone could just back up and side your hitch head into their hitch and drive away with your HTT

ha...haven't heard much for people pulling up in a campground and tearing down and stealing a whole camper!!

But I wouldn't put it past someone to steal a $400 WD hitch.

I took some electrical black single wire and simply made a loop hung around the tongue on each side near the front of the trailer. Slip the bar into the loop and rest the other end on the L bracket. Handy and ready to use. Guess I don't worry about theft--can't believe somebody would just want the bars. I leave the ball on the truck 90% of the time we are on the road (or stopped to camp!).
