I was at the dealer the other day for a Domestic Refrigerator recall repair. I looked at a loaded Cedar Creek 36 RD5S with a list price of $64.843.00. I asked the salesman what he could sell it for. He told me the best he could do was 10% off list, $58.359.00. He looked at my 2002 loaded Cedar Creek RLTS to give a trade in price. He told me he would give me retail to retail pricing. He gave a a trade price of $26,200.00 that's low retail, average retail is about $31,500.00. He took that price off the full list price not the 10% off price and said that was his best deal. That's like giving me $19,800.00 for my trade. Needless to say I didn't buy the 5th wheel!
It's to bad I may have bought a new one if he gave a good price!

What did you expect- the most bottom line bare bones deal with the first offer???? If you continue to negotiate for several days or even weeks, then that price will come down, I am sure. Why do you want to trade, when you have a perfectly good RV now? Unless you just want to eat all that depreciation so the buyer of your old RV can enjoy it at a much cheaper cost than you?
With all due respect why are you questioning why dmax27 wants to trade trailers. It's his money. We traded a perfectly good 2000 Cardinal 32CKT for a 2008 34QS. Why?? Just because we wanted a new trailer. Same reason as why I traded a 2002 Ford TV with just 40,000 miles. When one of my sons ask "What was wrong with the other one?", my reply was the same. Nothing, I just wanted a new truck. We worked, saved and invested for fifty years and have finally came to the same conclusion as many others, you can't take it with you, so we are going to enjoy it while we can.

Before we bought this 5er, we had another one picked out. Went to make a deal and told the salesman we wanted his best price first, we were not interested in back and forth negotiating. He went to the manager and they both came back to the office. The list price was $52,000 and the SM said, I'll take $10,000 off, I said $42,00, we can talk about it. He said No $48,000.I looked at him and the salesman and asked where he went to school. The salesman shook his head and the SM couldn't understand what the problem was.
