You know my Dh has always said, Locks are for good people, He say's if someone wants to break in, a lock more than likely won't stop them. And I am afraid its only gonna get worse. Bella

The higher the prices get the more the thievery will rise. Along with the more innovative ways of stealing fuel.

Maybe it will become cost effective to install case hardened steel skid plates on our truck's fuel tanks to protect them.

How about air suspension for the cars? When you park your car, hit the valve and the car rests down on the frame so no one could get under it. I would like one of those anyway.

I have also been thinking of building a woodshop behind the house to free up the garage again for cars.

I guess we will find out how drastic of measures we will be willing to take when gas is $10.00 a gallon.

Remember the last gas shortage ... everyone was selling locking gas caps.

They had a clip on local news last week about locking gas cap sales. Seems some of the auto parts are selling them as fast as they get them in. I have not heard of any gas thefts.

Maybe in addition to a gas tax holiday this summer, we can get federal rebate coupons for purchasing locking gas caps.

In utah they have had people punch holes in gas tanks, drain the gas out of farmers tractors, drain the gas from construction equipment, and pulling up to cars filling that have no one there and fill their tanks while the person is inside or away from the pump.

If it becomes a problem in my area I may have to consider adding a spark-gap and motion sensor to the alarm!

I have a two gallon gas can bungeed to the rear bumper of my trailer for the generator. I'm REALLY surprised that it hasn't disappeared yet.

Of course, I'd rather have to replace two gallons of gas from time to time than risk the whole trailer going up in flames by storing it inside. Why can't they make a gas can that doesn't leak fumes?

You can buy a tool specifically designed to make stealing gas easier. I saw a picture of one of the net, it's a box with a magnetic base on one side and a plunger with an attached hose on the other side.

The instructions were simple, attached the box to the gas tank, hit the plunger with a hammer to punch a hole, then turn on switch to pump tank. Total time was estimated at 30 seconds
