I found one locally to me at a very nice price. It's got the following:
66K miles
Independent Front Suspension
Diesel generator
I have seen a few photo's - but with a 1997 - is there anything to look out for? The seller is the original owner.
Thank you!!

I believe in 97 they were still using rubber roofs on them.

Wouldn't an independent front suspension mean it had to be Spartan?

Spartan Chassis
Cummins 325HP engine
I got an e-mail back from the owner - he is the original owner... he has replaced the water heater, furnace, microwave... the front TV just died, but not replaced yet.
I am curious about a few things - i read a while back that there were some problems with ball joints on the front suspension?
The seller said fiberglass roof, and it did have a leak, but it was caulking at a seam that has been fixed.
The asking price is just under $50,000 - which is lower than NADA low retail for this RV...
I'm just wondering if there are other things to watch out for specifically on this make/model.
Thank you!

of that vintage I would "guess" that the fiberglass roof is the old 3/4 or 5 piece one that they used way back when. maybe that is why a seam leaked?

If everything looks good you can't go wrong with most Newmar's if they have been taken care of. They are top notch and they are the ones that invented the slide back in 1990.

they may have invented the drop down flat floor slide but I think slides preceded them. that slide that when pulled in makes the hallway higher on one side than the other and a bear to walk on.

Thank you!! Check front axle weight and tire capacity. Along about then there were front axle overloading problems on the Spartan chassis, Newmar went up a size or two under warranty. Could have 275/80 tires although some got 275/70's.
