Anyone know of a good/cheap campground near Ashville, NC for a small 5th or tent?
I really want to see the Biltmore this summer and car/tent may be the only way. I'm scared of night critters tho so I'd really want one with a close bathhouse and a few lights. I'm not the rugged outdoor type in other words.

Bamabound. Check out campgrounds on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Seems there is one near Asheville.

They got no lights, at least the ones we stay in don't. they don't have bath houses either, only retrooms. No showers cold or hot.

The KOA does look good. Thanks. I tried to see but couldn't find it, do you have to be a member to stay at a KOA? We've only done state parks.

Unless you're used to noise, I wouldn't recommend KOA east in a tent. RR track and Interstate 40 are just across the street. We stayed there about 8 years ago in a popup and it was too noisey for us. Train was the biggest problem as it seemed to come through every 3 hours and blew horn at nearby crossing.

Bamabound. OK! KOA not so hot, it sounds. Bear Creek and Mama Gertie's possibilities but how about Campfire Lodgings. It's off the highway, a bit. No swimming pool but bet they will let you tent camp near the bathhouse.
