My price quote is $1285 plus $600 (6 hours per Camping World). I called the factory distribution center and their price was the same, but said there (Oregon) they would mount them for $200, so for me the extra $200 is not a problem, considering it is 3500 miles from here to Oregon!!
The SmartTire sensors are sealed, hense the battery is not replaceable. When you are due to replace the batteries, you need to replace the entire sensor.

I replaced the Pressure Pro system with the SmarTire. In my opinion a quantum leap. The Pressure pro caused several valve stems to loosen causing pressure loss. Also, the little O rings inside the sensors are easily damaged as you remove to add air and then replace.

Couple of points. The Doran is a plastic seal so no o ring which makes it better, second on your loose valve stems, were they rubber or Steel? They tell you do not use on Rubber Valve stems.

Rubber O rings and steel valve stems. To add to my problems with their system, when I realized the O ring problem while on the east coast I called them and asked for new rings. They said fine, but I had to pay for them and the shipping. After I explained the problem and they agreed it was an issue with the design that were correcting I still had to pay. As soon as I returned home I ordered SmarTire.

The o ring is issue is why I went with Doran. I have heard of no one with Valve stem issues unless they were on rubber
We wanted the SmartTire System in our new Foretravel. The company refused to install it, saying they have had too many problems and warranty claims with the sensors. They were tired I'm sure of paying to replace sensors under warranty, which requires the tires to be dismounted.
We didn't like the Pressure Pro system in our old RV (false alarms and dropped sensors all the time) so now we have the Tire Sentry. So far, so good.

Not sure the Doran reports temperature, but this is an important feature for me. I love our Smartire which has worked flawlessly for three years. Not happy with the company though, because they have totally changed their design and are now selling the generation II. Since, I have the older version (generation I), the gen II sensors won't work, and they are not selling gen I sensors anymore. This means I have to buy and replace the whole system when my batteries go dead. Doesn't sound like they cared much for their pervious customers, and I won't buy another Smartire.

The SmarTire system is the only system to give you temperature and temperature compensated pressure (deviation) in addition to just the standard tire pressure. This allows you to check your tire pressure hot or cold. While having just the pressure is good, having all the data is much better.
Battery life is designed to exceed 7 years at 50k miles per year. I intentially modified one of the transmitters on my SmarTire motorcycle kit to not go into sleep mode. That means the transmitter remained active and transmitted all the time. It lasted 3 years and 7 months. The motorcycle kit uses the same low pressure transmitters as tow cars.
Ever leave the steering column locked on a toad? The SmarTire system will notice when the tires start getting too hot before a blowout occurs, the competitors will not. Same goes for a dragging brake, or a wheel bearing going out.
