Tuesday I am having Camping World in Spartanburg, SC install the Smartire tire monitoring system on my 06 Phaeton and 03 Honda Pilot. Information that I have received indicates this is one of the best, if not the best system and that many high end coaches come with the Smartire system installed. If you have any information on this system, please let me know.

I installed one on my coach more than a year ago. Absolutely no problems. Some people say they want to see the actual pressure, As long as the alarm does not go off.....I could care less what the pressure is.

My mistake I have this one. TireSentry

I agree with what you have said, if it's not the best it's one of the best. We have had no problems with ours. Great info at hands reach. I think you'll be quite happy with the system. I see actual pressure so I'm not sure what the difference is between what I have and Richard has.

Disadvantage to Smart tire is you have to dismount your tires to put it on, To change the batteries, and if you want to keep it if you trade it. I am pretty sure too it does not have a high pressure alarm.

I know that they will have to take all tires off to mount these, but I am told that the screw on types are often stolen. Also, this system that I am getting gives a read out on pressure AND temperatures and does have an alarm.

What is the cash lay out requirements? If you have to dismount the tires why not add the "run flat" system at the same time?

It has a low pressure alarm not a high pressure which can indicate a problem. I have the Doran 360 and no problems. I do not know how the theft rumor started about sensors but no one bothers mine, as most people do not even know what they are, besides unless you have a base unit, what would you do with them? Know a lot of people with sensor type and no one I know has ever had one stolen.

My SmarTire system does have alarms. Both temp and pressure.
You merely set the parameters above & below and the unit flashes alarm whenever they are exeeded.

I don't know why anyone would get their panties in a twist worrying about creating more air pressure. Usually one worrys about losing air.

In 1 1/2 years of use, I've only had one sensor on the toad malfunction and just by removing the band and re-positioning - it came alive again.
The coach sensors haven't had a problem.

My Smartire was installed new at the factory in 2001 as an option. It is now due for tires and has 70,000 miles on it. I think I'll replace the batteries now and not worry about it for another 6-7 years.
And that's a disadvantage ?? Not in my book.

I'm happy with that kind of dependability / durability. Again I have had ZERO problems with the system.

Camping World's price was something like $1,071 for the 10 sensor system, for a rig like ours (6 wheels plus 4 on the toad), plus $540 or so for installation...
