I camped 30 yrs ago and Uncle Sam was paying me to do it. didn't care for it then and don't now.
we tried the tent thing in the beginning. while it was fun at 1st, the novelty wore off real fast. I enjoy nature and do frequent the more primitive CG's (St parks/ACofE)but at the end of the day, nature stays on one side of the door and I go on the other side. I do enjoy the creature comforts, worked long and hard to get here. personally I RV, I don't camp and my idea of "ruffing it' is using the batwing instead of the dish and using a coffee grinder instead of a mill.
so enjoy yourself and go RV'ing

Well, IMHO camping is a tent or perhaps just a sleeping bag... We tent camped when we were younger (much younger!!) and even slept out under the stars with just a blanket and later did a MC popup (not bad) but have been RV'ing for the last 25 years... What we do (and you too) is RV'ing not camping... See the Tenting Forum for REAL CAMPERS )... But we enjoy it - it's not a lie - just a different form of enjoying the outdoors but NOT camping IMHO although we refer to it as such - - - but in the true sense of the definition, it is RV'ing not camping - at least that's what we think...
And like Robbie says - we worked long and hard for it - so just enjoy it

The closest you will get to real camping is a 4 wheel drive with a camper. However, like most men you have a wife's preferences to consider. My wife will not do that type of camping now so we have a trailer, and it is too small, really. I would like to go to more primitive places, but we can't tow a trailer on those bad roads.
This is a bad time for rving, perhaps a fatal time. Maybe try to sell that and downsize?

A girl in my office said you arn't camping unless you live in the dirt, eat in the dirt, sleep in the dirt. She coined a new phrase. She called what I was doing as "wussy camping" SO my friend that is what you are doing... Enjoy

I would call it having fun
But absolutely NOT camping!
What I do with my HTT is borderline "camping" only becuase I always go to state parks (with no hookups).
As soon as I cross the line and go to an RV Park"ing lot", I would then be RVing (God forbid ).
As soon as I have a trailer that is on blocks with a permanent deck in the front, I will then call myself "trailer trash" (of course, thise would be a step up from the "apartment complex trash" that I am now. ).
