Vacationing............getting away from it all............having a holiday.......stop calling it a lie...........if you are having fun and enjoying yourself then go for it. It sounds very luxurious to me. If you want to be more mobile and downsize, that is no sin....Just enjoy. Remember most people in the world live in houses with dirt floors. Try to enjoy it. It seems like a summer cottage.

I'm having a little trouble following all of your thoughts but I have an idea. I originally got into "camping" with a fold-down 35 years ago mainly because we wanted to spend a lot of time closer to nature and really see America's national and state parks. Although we now have a small 5th wheel, we still favor natural, public parks but with just a little more comfort. We will never "graduate" to the hugh motor home and spend all of the time inside watching TV and lying by a pool. There are campers and there are RVers who don't really "camp" but just take a home with them to travel in. The 2 groups tend to prefer different types of campgrounds. But, its OK to be sort of in between I guess or to switch back and forth.

We takes several road trips with our TT every year, so we move our TT much more often than you do, but still, it has all the amenities.. I call it "A Vacation Cabin with a Changeable View"

It sure ain't roughing it, but it sure is fun and comfortable at the end of the day. And it is our second home.

We spend most of our travel days in search of the truly great views at National and State parks.

Back in the early 90's, my Mom gave me a little money and I went looking for a truck camper. My husband wasn't the least bit interested in 'camping', so I figured it was something I could load onto my pickup and take fishing (something else DH doesn't enjoy).
Well..the first thing we found out was: No way would my Dodge Ram pickup carry a camper. But as we (notice how the dynamics have changed here) began looking around the RV lots, we became interested in maybe something more accommodating and ended up--
buying a used 27' Class C diesel
trading the C for a used DP
going full time for two years
buying another house
buying a park model
selling DP and buying a TT
I've since bought a kayak, backpack and tent and enjoy getting out in the 'toolies'. So I've kind of come full circle.

I think I like the simpler styles of camping but DH needs his creature comforts. Our little TT is a good (and economical) compromise right now, although I'd love to have a Tiger CX 4X4.

I grew up carrying all my camping supplies in a backpack hiking with the Boy Scouts. My rig is much more minimalist than yours, or many of you guys on here, but it's by far more luxurious than packing in, so I just tend to call it RV'ing

I agree with the previous post. Most of us are RVing not camping.

Our 20 something son still enjoys sleeping in a tent, but his 50 something parents enjoy more creature comforts.
