You unit can probably be fixed. Since it is most likely a smaller unit you can be take it out and cart it to the repair man. Saves a lot if you don't have to pay the guy to come to you. You can get an estimate on the repair and decide if you want to repair or replace. Frankly, microwaves are not all that expensive.

Throw away of fixed.. If you have to ask throw away

I say this because fixing it costs around 100/hr one hr minimum unless you can do the work

Now if it was me.. There are basically five parts that could be bad

Switch (I have seen bad door switches)

Diode (I have replaced diodes)

Magnatron (Throw it away)

Transformer (Throw it away)

Control board or timer (Depends, some you toss, some you fix)

Ours died at the office and I was impressed with what they came in with for about $50. Our first one 28 years ago was about $800 and with about the same features.

First thing I would do is take the case off. Check to see if there is a fuse blown. They are not just a regular fuse. The last one I replaced was about $5.00

I replaced mine with one from Wally World. Fit within the opening just fine for less than $80.00.

We just went thru this a few months ago. It was going to cost more to fix than replace. Go to Lowes/Home Depot or any other home store and look for scratch and dents. We got a real nice one with a scratch on the side that you can't see anyway.....
