I just went from a 1999 GMC 3500 dually crew cab long box to a 2008 GMC 3500 dually ext. cab long box. I had to raise my 5th wheel hitch up one hole. I use to have 9" clearence with the 99 now I have 7-1/2 inches with the 08. Another concern; Not only is the bed higher and deeper but that also makes the tailgate longer by 1-1/2 inches, so the clearence between the tailgate and your fiver is much closer when hooking up (tailgate down). So it is important to be straight on or else remove the tailgate.

For those of us who fought for it, freedom has a flavor the protected will never know.
Went from a 99 Dodge CTD 2500 2x4 long box to a new Chevy D/D 2500 4x4 long box. All I had to do was lower the hitch a couple holes in the mount. Still have 8 inch clearance at the rails. 5ver sits nearly level with a very slight nose high atitude. Axels are standard on the 5ver.
