I am having my hitch installed next week in my new 2500 Chevy, replaces the 1500 GMC, my question is since the truck sits higher am I going to have to have the axles flipped or will they be able to make the movements on the front pin to adjust to the new high. Just trying to get a heads up on how much this is going to set me back.
Thanks

You want to have at least 6" clearance between the bed rails and the trailer...with the trailer setting close to level. If the trailer is nose down, you will tend to over load the front axle and it it is nose high you will tend to overload the rear axle.

So if the trailer pin and the hitch can not be set to give you the 6" clearance and a level trailer, you may have to place the axles below the springs or you may have adjustable jake plates.

You might already have your axles mounted under your spring mounts. Many 5W's come that way these days. Since they are usually towed by class 2 or 3 LDT's trucks. If the axles do needs to flipped could set you back anywhere from $300 to $500. Get a few quotes from shops in your area.

But before you do anything, hook it up to see what you may need done.

hook it up first and check it I pull with a 2500 HD GMC should be the same height as yours and I have 8 inches of clearance and I didn't have to do any adjustments. The 5er sits perfectly level.

I switched from a 95 1500 to an 06 2500 and did not have to change anything.

There is probably some up and down adjustment on the fifth wheel's pinbox and the hitch probably has some up and down adjustment also. Like someone mentioned above, always maintain at least 6 inches between the truck rails and underside of the fifth wheel. Also make sure the fifth wheel rides level when attached to the truck.

Hook up first and take a look, then see what can be adusted around hitch or pin. I am running 285's on my HD2500 and 5er suspension is stock. I have about 8 inches of clearance while the trailer is almost dead on level. Good luck, and have fun.

We have an 08 Chevy 2500 4wd and we had to lower the pin box on the trailer to the lowest notch to get enough clearance over the bed rails. We have barely enough room at that setting. We are using a pullrite superglide so there is no hitch adjustment and the axles are already under the springs. We do not sit level either. We ride a bit nose high.

FWIW, you can not compare pre 2007 Chevy HD trucks with 2007-2008 models ... The new body style has side rails approx 2" taller than the Classic models. ie, the bed is not higher off the ground, but the box is deeper ...

First step like others have said is to hook it up and see what you got. On my new Cougar I replaced my trailer wheels with 16" and dropped the pinbox 1" to get 6" clearance and a level trailer.
