It all depends on why you have an RV. We had a boat in 1980. We sold it a year later cause gas was too expensive for us to enjoy trips to the lake (I think it was $.75/gal). We did other things instead. I've usually had longer commutes so we could live in an area we liked. Other things were done away with because of gas (and cars) for that commute.
Gas and other prices will always go up. Right now we should be paying nearer to $6/gal adjusted for inflation, so, I will not be surprised to see another jump this summer. It is something that has to be adjusted for.
I hope the OP finds a 'happy spot' that they can enjoy.

It seems to me that people are letting the oil companies win or it is just an excuse to quit camping. I wish you the best. We are looking for a larger TT or 5er. I would rather stop eating out then quit camping.

sweetlou and magster, don't start a dialog on that line. I felt that the sweetlou comment was "tongue in cheek" and was taken wrong. Let it drop immediately!

We traded our HTT in on a class C just so we could get rid of the expy to save gas. It works out cheaper for us to only use a gas guzler "C" when we are camping versus using alot of gas to and from work for the expy.
Have a great time camping,

Try to keep the actual impact of fuel price increases in perspective.
If you get 10 mpg (conservatively low if you have a diesel and pull 12K lbs or less) a 2000 mile trip will consume 200 gallons of fuel and represent an excursion of substantial distance. If diesel is one dollar per gallon more than a year ago, each 2000 mile trip will cost you 200 more than a year ago. The last time we stayed in a Hampton Inn, it cost 119 plus tax, to use the room for 12 hours.....plus the cost of dinner in a restaurant....that is one reason be began camping. Sure, the increase hurts, but in the grand scheme of things is a small factor in the cost of traveling.

We'll not really. I own a truck anyway and always will. I just have a need for it. It used to be my daily driver, not anymore.
If you really want to nitpick, then you have to add in the second home deduction, residual value, etc...
Then you have to factor in fuel to drive you to the airport, parking, eat out meals, renting a car, fuel for renting a car, hotels, etc....
