I am about to replace one of my LCD tv's. What is the advantage of having HDTV in the mh? It seems that hi def doesn't start till you get to a 20" set. At present I have an in dash dvd player which doesn't seem to be available in Blueray. So if you don't have dish tv or a Blueray player and none of the campgrounds I go to have HD feeds thru their cable.. I'm in love with my home hi def set. Would their be a point to putting it in a mh?

There are some fantastic over the air broadcasts in many areas in HD. We don't have HD satellite but the regular air HD broadcasts will spoil you.

I still don't know how you find out the programming for those. For instance, let's say normal PBS is on channel 11. In many areas, there will also be a different line up (say kids) on 11.1; cooking on 11.2; hobbies on 11.3, etc. I haven;t found out where you can find the schedule for these sub channels. But, I digress.

I'd go (and did) the HD LCD route for this and when the DVD player thing gets sorted out.

Yes there is a very compelling reason.... It would give you the ability to receive over the air digital programs, and over the air HD programs. Don't forget, all over the air broadcasting goes digital next February. And, if you ever wanted to upgrade to BluRay you're set.

I have 3 tv's in our MH and they hardly ever get watched. The one flat screen we have has never been turned on. We go camping to get outdoors and the tv's are great when it is raining or at night. The kids play a game or two and watch a DVD. (When we land on a site they jump out and I have a hard time finding them. I am lucky if I see them at all during the day. I am looking at replacing the front bulky tv with a flat panel but only because of all the squeaks and noise I get from the one that is currently in there. I shake my head when we are camping and find those that stay inside all day watching the boob tube. JMO

Maybe I'm just old school but I can't see much difference between Standard and HD broadcast. John Wayne looks the same to me in both. The wide screens I really don't like as all the characters look short and fat. I'll just stick with whatever I have, but to each his own. The right to be different, no matter what, is what makes this country great.

You haven't actually seen true HD programming perhaps? But you will see a big difference next February when your old analog sets all have a black picture, while everyone else's digital sets are working just fine.....

We have two 26"(front and back) Polaroid HDTV's. We also have one small 17" PC/TVHD monitor outside. We carry HD 5 satellite antenna with multi switch. If we are camping and there is NASCAR or NHRA racing I set up antenna and we share signal between 3 MH. Automatic satellite antenna mounted on the MH will also give you some HD channels.
Good luck

To the OP - any device you buy now should be (if it's affordable) Hi Def (1080p) as that's the way all broadcasters are heading. We have yet to see a Blu Ray HD entertainment unit but I'm sure they are on their way. All our TVs are HD and LCD even though we still have standard def dish receivers. The next step (and we are in no hurry) will be to get HD receivers and some new fangel'd thing on the roof that will see all the sats at once.

We also have the Poloroid 26" widescreen HDTV in the coach.

We have DirecTV HD DVR however we rarely ever watch HDTV because it's very hard to notice any difference between HD and SD from SATELLITE on that size of screen and we can't be bothered switching satellites.

We have noticed a difference in quality between SD and HD over-the-air broadcasts but as we rarely if ever watch them it's not an issue.

However I wonder whether there is any price difference between HD and SD TV sets these days - the Poloroid HDTV cost us less than $500.

We have had HDTV since it became available and wouldn't be without it. As for camping, I have had all the camping I will ever want. US Army for 26 yrs. I now don't ever intend on camping again, we are now RVer's. We don't boondock or use State parks, only time we have used State parks is when there was no other choice. We are both retired and don't like being without HDTV or computers. Now if your like to smell wood burning and tons of noise and lots of drinking thats your choice, or just any of the above. We prefer full hook ups and WiFi if possible. We have used air-cards and have the Hughes Net computer dish, which we aren't using on Tri-pod
now. We try to find RV parks that have Wifi, if not we will probably go back to the air-card. Its really just different choices for different type wants and needs. Heck we live in the woods, we are surrounded by wood lands out back yard is 1,200 acres and overlook 6 miles of the Tennessee river. We have deer, turkeys, and just about all type wildlife. But we also have full hook ups and Satellite HDTV and Computer, we also have a generator for when the electric is down. We also like 55+ RV parks, we have raised all our kids and really like the security of gated parks. GBY...
