We've been out four times in the Silverback. It is a normal event to trip the breaker when the following is on: TV, ceramic heater, coffee maker.
I had the dealer check everything out in February when it was in for warranty work. He said everything was fine; I would have to adjust what we use.
This brings up several points/questions:

1. Do you find it easy to trip a breaker? If so, how have you adjusted?
2. I find it frustrating that I can't do the normal "morning" thing and stay warm, watch TV, and enjoy a warm cup of coffee without tripping the breaker.
3. Should I be complaining more to Cedar Creek as opposed to the dealer? Would I have been better off getting the 50 amp service?

How many amps do you think your heater,tv and coffe pot draw when first started?
One of the first things I do when getting a new rig is to spend the time and find out which plugs go with which breakers. That way I can move stuf around if needed (like in the winter with three heaters going) to keep things on. I have been lucky not tripping a breaker.

What else is using electric?? Do you use the waterheater on Gas or electric, how about the fridge, gas or elecrtic? How about plug in clocks? These are just some things that could add up.

I had the same problem on my Cougar. I upgraded to a 50 amp service. No more problems. Me doing it myself still cost over $400 dollars. Expensive, but worth it. My DW would trip the breaker all the time. Coffee pot, water heater, TV, hair dryer, heater etc. The 50 amp cord and 50 amp plugs are the expensive stuff. If you hire it done I'm guessing over $500.

A ceramic heater draws typically 1200 watts when on high setting. That's 10 amps at 120 volts. the coffee maker draws 600 watts, that's another 5 amps. The TV might draw 200 watts, call it 1.6 amps. Before any casual loads you're looking at 16.6 amps, and the maximum continuous load allowed on a 15 amp breaker is 12 amps. So you are near enough 40% overloading the breaker.

I would look at your power center and see if you can add another breaker and split out the outlets to share the load a little bit. Or set it up so that you run the heater from the AC breaker by adding a dedicated outlet- you're unlikely to be running the heater and the AC at the same time. But your breaker is doing exactly what it should be - you are just trying to do too much with what you have.

Edit: Going to 50 amp service won't have any effect on the single 15 amp breaker issue that you have, unless as a part of the upgrade you split out the loads. Of the ideas I put forward, I like adding the dedicated heater outlet on the AC breaker the best. Having thought of it I may do it myself - I don't have AC, I have the AC breaker sitting there doing nothing, and I do use a ceramic heater!

Try moving the heater to a plug that is still working after the 15 amp plug has tripped.

Our heater and coffee maker uses about 15 to 20 amps so we make sure they are on different breakers.

The answer is not a 50 amp service. It's the division of the service itself. If he has all those on that one 15 amp line, it's gonna blow. 30 or 50 amps wont mean crap. It's still a 15 amp breaker. He needs to either upgrade to 20 amp breakers and or split up the line for at least 2 of those appliances mentioned.

COX89XJ...A couple of questions for you. Did you upgrade your wiring leading from the plug wire to the breaker box after you put the 50 amp cord on? Or is it a direct connection? Did you upgrade you breakers too? Any redistribution of breakers to outlets?
Also you do know you voided your warrenty by doing that.

It's really quite simple.....

1. Yes----move the coffee maker or heater to a different circuit in the rig!!!
2. Yes----move the coffee maker or heater to a different circuit in the rig!!!
3a. No----move the coffee maker or heater to a different circuit in the rig!!!
3b. No----move the coffee maker or heater to a different circuit in the rig!!!

It's no different than at home!!!! All fixed!!!!....Brian

Installed a 50 amp distribution box in the cabinet between the two recliners in the rear of the camper.
Installed 50 amp camper plug where the 30 amp cord use to come into camper.
Hooked 30 amp cord into the new 50 amp panel, feeding the already existing 30 amp panel.
Ran 3 # 12 wire circuit from new 50 amp panel to the 30 amp panel. That makes a total of 4 circuit including the 30 amp circuit.
Unhooked the air conditioning circuit from the 30 amp panel and hooked to one of the circuit going to the new 50 amp panel.
Did likewise for the water heater circuit and micro wave circuit.
Also installed a 20 amp recepticle in the cabinet were the 50 amp panel is and hooked it on the same 20 amp breaker feeding the air conditioning. This is for a heater. Heat and air conditioner won't be on at the same time.
I'm a licened electrician.
WHAT WARRENTY? It's a 2006.
