Does anyone know what wheel bearings and seal are used in a 2008 WW FS3000 triple axle with 16" wheels?

On the last trip the right rear wheel was warmer than the other 5, 125F degrees vs 110F. (I keep a infrared temp meter in the truck to check bearings/tires periodically)

I jacked up the wheel and it doesn't feel like too much brake drag so I pulled the hub and the bearing appear ok but I would like to get some spares just in case.

Here is what I think I read on them;

Outer 15L23 (??).
Inner 25580.
Seal 18 GS 2125 (??)

After more searching I think they are;
Outer 15123.
Inner 25580.
Seal GS18. (Still trying to confirm this one)

Page 2 of this link gives Dexter's industry standard bearing and seal listings. Note that for certain seals there appears to be no industry standard number...they're Dexter specific. You can try taking the hub to a bearing supply house and they can likely quickly I.D. the parts and sell you top quality spares.

I'm free of prostate cancer for 5 years now.
All men over age 50 should get an annual PSA blood test. Mine had a low reading, but the yearly jump was significant. The biopsy showed cancer just entering the aggressive stage. Dr. Hackenslash removed it.

Do you have Dexter or Al-Ko hubs? The good quality double lip seal for the Al-Ko hubs is a Timken 413470, accept no others as when crossed to NAPA, National or CR you get a single lip seal. This seal will allow you to lube the axle through the zerk fitting in the middle and not worry about 'lubing' the brake shoes.

I'll have to check.
I have been doing my research on redtrailers.com and trailerpart.com

I plan to call Trailerpart.com tomorrow to verify numbers.

AL-KO hubs,

I called Trailerpart.com and they matched them up. They are not too far away from me.
Timken Bearings 9.95/14.95 and a double lip seal 21333TB 1.40.

Thanks for all the help/advice.

I think the seal is the CR number, if so it is a single lip seal, I don't recommend using it.

Well after checking to see if the brakes were dragging (and they weren't) I pulled the hub and replaced the bearings even though they felt good and smooth. The Inner bearing did have some heat/scorch marks.
I snapped a few pictures for my own future reference and then when I uploaded them I saw the one with the scorch marks on the spindle!
I have emailed them to the WW dealer where I purchased it to see what they think.

Any thoughts on what this indicates? Could it just be a bad bearing or installation or do you think the spindle may have a problem?

I haven't checked any other hubs yet, I thought that might give me more info. for reference. But even if I do what does it mean if others have it, normal??
If no others have it? Just 1 Bad bearing or spindle?

No problem, see it all the time on cars and trucks, black, blue, brown or black. No signs of galling or smearing. If it bothers you take a scotchbrite pad and polish the spindle. Be sure to rinse it down with brakeclean to remove the scotchbrite pad residue after you are done or you may have problems. While you are in there though I would check the brake wiring were it passes over the lever and attaches to the magnet, that is a common area for a short circuit that usually shows up only when the brakes are being applied. I applied a few layers of extra insulation on my wires after I repaired the ones that were nicked and shorting to ground.

Thanks for the reply. What causes the scorch mark to happen? I know it had to be high heat but why in the dual line pattern?

The Service manager said he discussed it with his axle person and they think the spindle is fine, said the bearing nut may have been a little too tight or not enough grease was in there. He also recommended doing the bearing inspection every 6 months, not 12.

I'll make sure to check and record the tire and hub temperatures often on future trips.
