You have just arrived at CG and you and your other half are setting up camp when you hear the sound of another rig approaching. You look up to see a new Ford Excursion pulling a new Rockwood 8288SS, you comment on the unit then continue on setting up camp. All of a sudden you hear this horrible raking sound and you turn around to see the owner of the Rockwood is dragging the awning across a tree and it is tearing it! You yell at the driver to get his attention to stop when you notice his spouse is sitting in the passenger seat watching the awning being riped doing nothing to stop her husbands blind and careless action, like getting out and being his spotter for instance!
On our second outing with our TT WD and I witness this action. Now since we have been traveling with a TT DW has always gotten out the truck and guided me weather it was backing or making sharp turns around trees. With the purchase of our 19' Jayco we bought 2-way radios. and use them alot especially when I have to back blind and use them even more since we have a 30' TT. She is a very good spotter and I don't like backing TT with out her even thou i have. My point is this lady watched her husband ruin a 500+, dollar awning and did nothing to prevent it. What made matters worst we notice she did nothing to assist him in setting up camp but sat at the picnic table and watch him, at one point he was removing the WD bars and she bought out their little dogs handed him their leash and walked back into the TT! DW was upset at the womans lack of helpfulness. He set up everything and even cooked, His spouse and teen girl did nothing to help him at all, not that we notice. Then latter we saw a B pull in and again we witnessed the female not helping with anything, oh wait she did feed the little dog while he was cooking and sat in a chair and instructed him in what to do! Does this go on a lot the wife or girlfriend not helping the man to set up camp or do anything else, just sit in a chair and watch. In both campers the male did every thing with no help from his partner.
DH and I work as a team no matter what we do and even more so when we camp. She has her duties and I have mine and we work together on every thing else. I do the cooking she feels I grill better than her as she makes the coffee cause she makes better coffee than me but she has everything ready for me, But when i am backing the TT she always spots for me and assist me in hitching up I do one side she does the other. Are there more people like us or are we the strange ones? Sorry bout the long post

All's I can say is Wow!
That is not the norm in our camp even though my DH does not particularly enjoy camping... although getting better now that we have a nicer TT. I can do everything myself although I sure do appreciate the nice people from other campsites who help me back into my site and onto my leveling blocks if I cam on my own with the kids. But just because I can do it myself, I do expect my DH to help out when he is around. The only time my DH has had to do setup and everything else was last summer when I was recovering from surgery.. we pulled in, he got my lounger out and put me in it with a bottle and magazine and got to work... I must admit, it was the most enjoyable set-up I've ever had but I sure felt lazy doing it.
Good to hear that you and your other half are partners in all things

And if I saw it... not my problem, nor my business.

And far be it for me to be the one to judge it.

Barbara plans an easy prep meal for the first night although when I say easy, she has probably prepared some of it before we leave. As soon as we back in and are where we want to be, she is in the TT preparing the meal as I am unhooking and setting up. By the time I am done, dinner is ready. I know, in some cases, it doesn't always work this way but this sure works for us.

I have never seen that, probably because I am busy minding my own business rather than spying so intently on my neighbors.

I was out directing my husband as usual and found he had not rolled the window down. Grr!
