We’re planning a trip in June and July and would like to be able to bring our Golden Retriever with us. However, we’re concerned about keeping him cool in the event we stop somewhere on route for a few hours and can’t bring him with us.
If we’re plugged in we can leave the air on in the TT but if we’re not we can’t run the air. Does anyone have any suggestions? I thought about a generator but don’t really want to have to fire it up and leave it outside in a parking lot.
To add to this, we're traveling from Ontario across the northern US to Yellowstone then up to Banff and back across Canada.
Sounds like leaving my dog in the travel trailer with the windows open for short times (depending on the temperature will work) is the way to go. I like the idea of a direct fan too. Does anyone know of a good rechargeable one?

Plenty of water and shade, maybe a 12 volt fan to keep the air moving. I know it's a problem we also have 2 dogs and always think of what to do with them.

When we take our dog with us, (retriever also) we do not stop for a few hours unless it is somewhere that he can accompany us.
If we just stop to eat, I will put him in the TT with some windows open. It never gets too hot in there, even without air.
We never leave the dog in the truck, under any circumstances.

Leave the windows open. People AND dogs survived for a few years before air conditioning was invented and that's how they did it.

I travel with a Black Lab , depending on the temps. we either put her in the trailer with all the windows open, or in the truck with it idleing and the air on ( not sure about this year with the price of diesel) . Keep in mind we usually only stop for 1/2 hour or so just enough to get food and or potty breaks.

I think it depends on where you are going to be. If you plan your vacation in the southern USA then it will be extremely hot inside the trailer, even with windows open.
But if you are traveling in the northern part the summer temps will not be as extreme so you might be okay to leave the windows open.
Just my thoughts.

Runner75, You may want to look at the O2COOL fan. The run on 12V, 110V, D batteries and their own rechargeable batteries. We got ours at WalMart.
