Still looking at all out there. in 34-40 or so.. WONDERING about the MPG with gas verse diesel, what impacts by speed, and yes 70 would use more then 50.. and thought of RV with tow, at 70 terrifies me as at that speed one can only hope nothing serious happens on road or with RV as suspect "wiggle room" envelope gets rather small.
But curious as to size, speed, tow, gas v diesels, etc.. what do the real folks driving real RV's on real roads, not only interstate etc.. get for MPG?
Bud with 42 foot laughs and says.. "well on average I get about 30 MPG, the Primus I tow gets around 50 or so and sometimes RV gets 10..so 'average for my travels is 30 MPG".
What is real world for most...? And doubt the generator's use much?
My 37' Gasser with the Ford V10 gets between 7.5-8.5 pulling the Honda CRV traveling under 60 MPH with cruise ON on flat travels, and cruise OFF on hilly travels. I believe I am in the typical MPG for gasser.
I have a small 270 hp diesel and get from 8 to 11 mpg. Any wind at all, side or front will cut me to 8 mph but generally I can plan on the high 9's and low 10's. 23,000 lbs and 3100 lb toad and generally about 62 mph.

My wife does all the driving - I just get to hold the steering wheel.
Expedition - Suzuki Grand Viagra
I'm 34', 7.4L Chevy Vortec, towing an S-10 Blazer.
I average between 6.5 and 8.5, depending on the conditions and the terrain.
Over all, average over about 30,000 miles towing is right at 7 MPG.
We did a group run down to PHX for the race in early April, there were 3 rvs. Round Trip was 1726 miles, The run down was done at 65-69 MPH, run back to COS was 70-75 As far as I know, Cruise was set for all for a majority of the time. And generators were used only at the camp sites not on the roads. Below is some info I collected as the RV geek of the group.

I am assuming you are talking about the airstream...
You know, I dont know how it did so well, other than it's about a foot or more shorter in height than the other 2, plus the skin was aluminum and didnt have a whole lot of amenities that you'd see on mine... really bare bones kinda RV. I was actually impressed.
The Bago' on the other hand was loaded down trying to be a luxo rig on a ecno-chassis,(he ended up blowing a tire in ABQ on the way back, new tire less than 2 weeks old) and I think the shear weight and length (high winds at times) is what killed him.
My HR on the other hand, I didnt buy for the MPG, I prefer the diesels for running up in the mountains at altitude up here (got to remember I start at 6500' and camp in the 10000' foot range many times through the year) and the Diesel combined with the Turbo really adds to my comfort level and control while on these passes in the mountains.
My previous rigs were a 86' Grand Villa gas pusher (total PIG)
a 94 Southwind with a 5.9 Cummins 6spd it was actually one of those unicorn Diesels that got 14 on the highway.... really light, like 17K LB and high gearing. (LOVED it, just needed a slide for the expanding family.
And Now I have the 97' HR endeavor with the 3126 CAT 6SPD - It's the Air Ride I love!
WARNING!!!! if you are currently in a gasser, dont test drive a Diesel, and if you have Leaf Spring over shock, dont I REPEAT DONT' drive an Air Ride!!! you'll upset your Banker!
