Just recently upgraded from a Coachman PU to a Starcraft 24FQB.
Love the trailer, but got to wonder if a Mickey of hooch was being passed around when the unit was built.
Over all I am extremely happy with the quality and finish of the unit.
But after bringing it home on Saturday and spending the weekend going over it, I noticed a few things that needed to be changed.
found a couple of screws pulled out of the ceiling, fixed that my self with drywall anchors. (had to use the same method in the past with my PU to fix a problem the dealer service caused, so I knew it would work).
An other issue have be it minor I will fix my self is there is 3 or 4 places where the wood work has sawed off ends with no finish,
nothing I'm sure that a good coat of varnish won't fix.
However there is one thing that leaves me scratching my head.
There is a night stand that buts snugly against our bed mattress,
and on the side of the stand facing the mattress is a 120 V outlet.
The outlet is useless because of its location, it is right beside the mattress, so any thing plugged in to it will get the cord bent over because of the mattress being right up against it.
I have already purchased the materials required to move it to a different location on the stand.
But how hard would that have been in the first palace.
Kinda makes you go HUH?

They are not the perfect bunch, these trailer builders are they ??
We too have some unfinished trim ends. While a design flaw and not a builder error, we have a light fixture sitting over the couch and anyone and everyone who gets up from the couch has hit their head on it..

You can get n extension cord that has a flat plug and the cord comes out the side. Might be easier than moving the outlet.

I have found several similar items on my 3 year old fiver. Latest was the transfer switch (to transfer power from genny/shore to the rig with a built in 20 second delay for the generator startup was hooked up backwards so the shore power got the delay and the genny came right online. Burned out the delay circuit. Other issues was poorly connected wiring twist connectors that pulled apart and shorted out and a host of other niggling things.

Considered that option.
but I will move the outlet and I have already purchased a blank to cover the hole that will be hidden by the mattress.

You really should get a discount if you have to do the finish work yourself. The outlet was possibly placed where it was to be available for a heated mattress or heated blanket. I sure do agree about the apparent sense of humor that some manufacturers seem to have with showers plumbed to the black tank on some, locations of water fills and electric connections. ALL of those things should be apparent before the purchase though. Good luck / Skip

I would rather do the work myself as I don't have a lot of faith in the service department (this is biased on past experiences with our PU), at least by doing it myself I know its done right.

In today's world, it is common place in mass production. Just slap them together and spit them out the door. My last HTT was a warranty nightmare full of poor craftsmanship and I finally unloaded it. The final straw was pulling off the rubber strip that covers the screws and found a bunch of missing screws. My present TT is better, but it does keep me busy fixing things that were poorly assembled. Count your blessings you can do the improvements yourself. At least you know the end result will be a job well done. The cold ones always taste better after the project is done. Happy Camping and enjoy your new TT

Stuff like that is common on new TT's, but everything is fixable! Enjoy your new Starcraft!

I don't have as much of a problem with the builders as I do the designers.

Seriously, what were they thinking in some of these TTs when they put the entertainment center directly next to the couch at a 90 degree angle? I realize that was probably the only place left to put it but if it were me I'd have scrapped that design and come up with a better one.
