howdy all. I have a new, 08 TT and it has warmed up and was going to use the AC while tinkering in trailer. Here's the problem, fan works, have more than 120V AC to trailer, compressor will come on then in a few minutes and shut dow (compressor) fan contimues to blow.
When compressor is working the air blowing out is very cold and normal. It is still on warranty, but are there other things I should check before returning to dealer?
thanks for any ideas in advance.

I'm no expert but I wonder if the current capacity of the AC circuit is sufficient to carry the load the compressor demands. When you state there is more than 120 V I wonder what the voltage at the compressor is when it tries to start/run.

Dick B now we are getting beyound my limited expertise, I am just assuming that if there were more than 110V ac it should work as it is less than a year old?
thanks for your ideas

What happens if you lower the thermostat setting?

Is the thermostat in a direct air blast from the A/C and getting cooled off? And shutting down the compressor?

MELM well, thethermostat capilary tube in inline with the returning air to the AC unit, not the cold air discharge into trailer, I am leaning towards the thurmostat, dont ask me why, butwhen the compressor is running the air blows nice and cold, and your idea about the placement of the sensor may be right on?, it would be easy to reposition the sensor so as to be out of the direct return airflow.
Again any and all help is welcomed

I ASSUMED you have a wall mounted thermostat, and it appears yours is the model with the controls on the ceiling unit itself.

I found this manual: Brisk Air. It has the installation information in it and I believe it does apply to your unit.

A common cause of your problem in units like this is inadequate sealing between the return air and the discharge air within the ceiling unit; i.e., the cold air leaks into the return air and causes the thermostat to shut the compressor off.

Look very carefully at the installation for possible leakage. You might even turn the unit on and "feel" for any at the accessible areas.

MELM thank you so much, I will make those checks and see what I find, my owners manuel that came with the trailer did not show the wireing scmatic like your link has, so that will be helpfull also. And that civers the exact AC unit that I have.

thanks again for you help.

How are you getting electricity to your rv ? Maybe a 100 foot 15 amp extension cord ?

081459spd 25' 12 gage then pluged into 30amp RV cable, however voltage is 114.6AC volts when the compressor is working, also I even pluged directly to my generator and it makes no differance in the compressor engaging. Yesterday afternoon I tried it againm this time it didstay engaged for about 2.5hrs and later it had cycled off and would not reengage, but by this time it had cooled off out side, but I feel it should have still engaged....I just had eye surgery, so havent tried much else.
thanks for the ideas

SSG

I am shooting from the hip, but it sounds like you don't have the big sausage 15 amp min cord as the extension. Using a regular extension cord will result in the ac acting that way.

Forget about the volts and all that. Don't ask me how I figured all that out.

good luck bro
