OK, this is a bit different but I told the DW I would ask.
She complains that when taking a shower and adjusting the temperature, she depresses the shut off at the nozzle to conserve water while lathering, etc. When she flips the switch on and the water comes back out, it is COLD for 5-10 seconds. It was hot when shut off and seconds later when turned back on, COLD.
I hear her scream in there when this happens but could never give her an explanation of why it happens. I am sure it has something to do with that there fizz-icks, but I weren't too good with it in skool.
Any of you brainiacs know why?

I've read this comment on this forum before, and it does the same thing to me in my TT, so I would assume that this is normal. I live with it, and I just put my hand over the shower head to keep the cold water from getting to me until the warm water comes back.

If the winterizing water heater bypass kit contains one valve and a back-flow inhibitor instead of two valves, the shower will run cold after turned off at the shower head.

The shower in our Cougar does the same thing. I just point away when turning it back on.

yep yours is working all right. I think that it is a function of the water sitting in the tube to the head and cooling off.

Seems to be almost universal on most all makes and models.

Mine does the same as well. I just turn the head towards the wall until it warms up.

The "backflow inhibitor" is a check-valve and will have nothing to do with the shower running cold since the check-valve will be inoperative when water flow has ceased when the shower wand is turned off.
