Update: I still don't know if it was the wrong axle or if it was installed wrong. I do know that the TT now sits 4 1/2" from the top of the wheel well where it was about 2 1/2" before the axle switch. The new tires will be put on 6/5/08. We are going to stop by the tire dealer on the way to a long weekend in VA.

PDVANDUSEN if I were you I would go to the Dexter website and get the information on Dexter torsion axles. You should find information on load capacity of their axles and also most important the amount of travel space the axle arm and wheel needs to function correctly. This would help you determine if there is enough clearance even with the new axles. My camper has a different brand of torsion axle but it has around three inches of travel in shock loading.
Well, it looks like everything is as it should be. We just got back from a long and HOT weekend at the Thousand Trails Chesapeake Bay Preserve in Gloucester, VA. It was a 220 mile trip each way and the axles sure made towing an easier and more relaxing experience. The TT now sits about 1 1/2" taller and I think I'm going to have to adjust the Equal-i-zer hitch to adjust for that. I'm still trying to get the balance correct. I think I'm still a little tail heavy because of the rear kitchen.
