I picked up Plexi at my local home building center, and then velcroed it in all four corners to the door. Its been on for 2 years without any issue, and our dog can no longer scratch the screen.

Ours got dull and cloudy. We had it to keep the dog from tearing the screen. We just bought a screen door grate from Camping World and he won't even jump up on that

We found a different solution to leaving the door open with the AC or heat on.

Purchased heavy gauge clear plastic (usually used for table cloths, etc.) from the fabric department at Walmart and heavy duty adhesive velco. Cut the plastic to size, applied velcro to plastic and to inside edge of screen door. Works great and looks really nice!

Best part is, when I want fresh air, the plastic just rolls up and can be stored in any cabinet...it also doesn't get dull or cloudy, like plexiglas! Oh, and the whole thing cost less than $18.00!

Mine has been on for over a year and no cloudiness yet. The light is wonderful and I don't really get a glare from the sun because of the awning. If and when I do, I will look at maybe tinting it.

jonej2 I noticed you are from NC. WE got our door insert from Ace Hardware in Aberdeen NC, We camp at Jackson Springs and while there we took our door off and took over to them. 3 years ago it was $49 I think now it has gone up to $64. not sure tho

I just measured my door. went to the local hardware, and had it cut. It is in 3 pieces, held on with mirror hangers. I can remove 1 pannel or all pannels for air in the mountains, and easily put them back on for AC.

Plex-G is UV resistant. (doesn't yellow).
Lexan is stronger than Plex, but hazes a little in UV and about 4 to 5 year life in sunlight.
I went with stronger. If I still have this trailer in 5 years I'll replace it.

Fun is that stuff that happens in between mistakes.

We had the Lexan and found it heavy. We then bought some clear window film and taped it on with double sided tape. We then used a hair dryer to pull it tight, almost like shrink wrap. That has really worked for us and it doesn't add any wieight to the door.
