go up to the KOA in Williamsport MD, not that far from "Ferry". Its along the river and C & O Canal nice campsites plenty to d. If you have kids then go to Yogi Bear CG on the other side of Williamsport, its great for kids

Just got back....I wouldn't recommend the newer sites if your are looking for a "camping" experience. No trees and the workers stay in that area, plus not worth the extra cost. We started out there and moved to the wooded pull thru sites. We ended up in #165. Very nice for our 32' 5th wheel. Those 160 sites are nice and easy pull thru's. No cable, but I did manage to get a satellite signal through the trees. Sites in this area were gravel and reasonablly level. I always take some boards for leveling. I liked the KOA and the Harpers Ferry area, very interesting.

We stayed at HF KOA and agree with all the above. Also check to see if you have cable TV. We were told we did but didn't. Our next trip was to the KOA at Antetiam. A much nicer park. We did the battlefield one day and HF the next. It was a very enjoyable and relaxing trip.

Kanyonkitty wrote: I agree with "DowntheRoad" about the KOA. It is an older rv park, small sites, narrow roads, some lots prone to standing water if raining, cars/trucks parked everywhere making travel tight. The newer section up near the entrance is a bit more spacious. It is a very BUSY place because of it's location. If planning to visit Harpers Ferry, you will still need to go to the Nat. Park entrance, pay your fees and then you catch a shuttle bus over to the park.
There is another no-frills campground about 6 miles farther NE, in Brunswick, MD. They offer W/E, dump station, bath house(never been in it), a small playground, great bike riding right on the C & O tow path, which runs right along the front of the campground. They have a boat ramp for access to the river. A little more wallet friendly also
We stayed in site 36 for 4 nights in June in a 35 ft. fifth wheel with 3 slides. Yes, it is tight getting around the loop but one of the campground hosts helped guide us to the site and they even trimmed some of the tree limbs to keep them off of our roof. We had plenty of room at our site. We were there for a family gathering in Virginia and didn't spend much time in the park. It is very convenient for everything we wanted to do in the area.
Was there this last spring. Not as bad as some folks are reporting. We enjoyed it. I stayed in 69. Moved there from the "larger" sites at the entrance. Rained....no mud at 69. Didn't like those.....no trees. You will like 69. Trees and pretty level. Nice office and nice staff. Enjoy....
