Could go on and on plus with all the things my friends sold and bought on Craig's List

It probably just depends what geographic area you are in. I imagine some places are better than others.

Craigslist has pretty much replaced the classified ads for selling stuff. The only problem with craigslist is that its free and often times the seller isnt really motivated to sell and the buyers arent that motivated to buy. People dont respond to e-mails, phone calls etc. Still I have sold stuff there.

Back to CB and pricing I think he needs to price his rig a little above wholesale and below what others are selling. You also need to leave a little room to take the price down. Every buyer wants the price to go down a little in negotiating. I spent several weeks going thru the trader magazine until I found a rig the seller had priced about $1000 above wholesale. He took another $500 off and he had it sold in a week. Two other sellers I had made offers on refused to budge and they remained in the trader mag for months.

The other thing about selling is if it doesnt sell in the first 3-4 weeks I think its a good idea to pull the listing for a couple of weeks and then relist with a new price. Buyers after seeing the same rig has been listed for several weeks will come to the conclusion something is wrong.

I wasn't having any luck using rv trader ( 3 months) so I hooked up to my fifth wheel, drove to home depot and parked across the street with a big sign, sold in 2 hours ( on a Saturday)

craigslist has the worst buyers and sellers. Nothing ever moves on it.

I found my golf cart and my boat on Craigs List, and both sellers had lots of responses. Before finding my boat I called on three others within a day of them being listed, and they were all sold.

I also sold my Equal-i-zer hitch within one day on Craigs List.

I live on a highway-busy street and I have managed to sell my cars and friends by just parking out in front of my house with a sign. If stuff is priced right it will sell. Too many sellers pull figures out of the air though asking way too much. The only trouble with selling off the busy street or vacant lot in a lot of municpalities its illegal to put stuff on the street with for sale signs.

True. It's also illegal in many areas to use someone else's property (such as a shopping center lot, vacant lot, etc) to park your "for sale" vehicle. Those laws were passed after some business and other private- and public-owned parking lots started looking like used car lots, especially in choice locations. The management and tenants of those places do sometimes call the police and report violations, especially where it has been a problem in the past.

My son has sold used cars as a sideline for the past year using Craigs List as his primary marketing tool. He's moved something like 25 - 30 cars during that period of time.
