If you have a problem with me touching your laundry, I really think you need to put yourself in a position so that does not have to happen - i.e., be there when the washer/dryer stops.

I don't think I'd wait around very long for the owner of a finished load to return before those clothes found their way to a table...unfolded. Your time is NOT more valuable than my time.

If I had "issues" with people touching my clothes, I'd be there to tend to them myself, on time. If I expected "unexpected circumstances", and had those "touching issues", I guess I'd save my laundry for my own home, or have a laundry in my rv...

Come up with an answer where you don't impose on others (making them wait for you...it's not their problem!)

Serena. Ok fine. You have your issues. I have mine. We all have idiosyncratic things that bug us. And the OP met a man who has his. That still doesn't give the guy the right to yell at her. I don't care if she lit his clothes on fire. He doesn't have to yell at her. Whatever happened to treating each other with respect?

She did what she thought was a courteous thing to do. He didn't agree. But he was nasty in return. Rude behavior seems to be the standard these days; unfortunately, it's becoming so at RV parks and campgrounds as well as in the 'real' world. I lived at apartments for years, and we all shared the common laundry. We figured it out; those who didn't want their clothing touched hung around. Those who didn't care came back to somewhat neat piles of clothes. These were big complexes and we didn't necessarily know each other, but we treated each other with respect.

What's so hard about that?

BTW, If someone touching your laundry is such a big thing, Fluff and Fold services are really nice. Or don't you use professional cleaners either?

You might want to, because if you leave your clothing in a machine at a CG or RV park, as you can see, we will likely move your things. And we do expect you to be respectful as well.

I completely agree....if you do have a "thing" with people touching your clothes you should make it your responsibility back. If your "thing" is that bad, just stay there especially since someone could touch your stuff and put it back in!!!

Sorry I don't mean to make fun of your issue, everybody has something right? But the fact of the matter is it's your thing, you need to deal with it not make it someone elses responsibility to deal with it. Also if you are using all the machines, how can you think that someone is not going to need at least one of them?

For me , when someone pay and start the machine, he rent the machine for the times it run, no more. If he is not there to leave his things unatended when the machine is done, it is his responsability.

Look at it another way. Someone leaves unatended his bicycles at the laundrymat door the way it blocks the entrance, and get away. You carefully bring the bicycle besides to get in the laundrymat and somebody arrive later and scream at you, would you feel concerned ? NO.

The man who screamed at a woman as posted by kimette for an unimportant event like this have problems. Unfortunatly from time to time we are around of thoses stupid peoples.

jml, agreed. While I might fold someone's clothes, if the load was not prohibitively large, and I have done this in the past, I would wait for a reasonable period of time before doing so--5 minutes, not half an hour--most self-serve laundries have the cycle times posted....as a courtesy to the customers who want to get their clothes back.

If I had folded someone's laundry and they returned, I have usually been able to start a conversation with them, and just told them that I would rather someone fold my laundry than let it wrinkle if I wasn't able to get back reasonably soon and that I felt others would feel the same way.

Man. There is NO end to it, is there? I wasn't defending the guy's bad behavior towards OP so much as just pointing out that everybody's different. AND I already made it clear that I CANNOT always wait around. CAN. NOT. You make take that to mean that I also CAN. NOT. always go find a fluff-n-fold, which would likely be even more effortful.

So far, I have never encountered a problem with people being rude with, to, or about my laundry (except here). Neither have I ever taken up all the equipment. Use your head here. I already said I wait until I am not likely to be in anyone's way. I can see what the ratio of available washers to dryers is. I keep a portable washer and spin dryer on board in case I need it, and as a fulltimer, there really is no other option beyond what I already do.

You guys almost have me convinced that I am in the wrong not to go around hassling park owners to supply waiting areas under the ADA, just so you can be in huge hurry? The hell? It's c.a.m.p.i.n.g. Supposed to proceed at a relaxed pace? That kind of thing? Your TIME is not more valuable than my ENERGY. Ever. No apologies. A little aggro for you is a day in bed for me. If you wanna leave your stuff in until the game is over or you're through watching Oprah, be my guest. I'll be the last to complain or mess with your stuff. You could just as easily have come to the conclusion that OP should've had a dryer on board and then wouldn't have gotten treated to that guy's bad day as she did. I wouldn't have agreed, necessarily. But it would make just as much sense. Or, she could've pulled out of the space and just waited for the dryer to clear so she wouldn't get charged. Then the whole thing wouldn't have happened. Or she could've just rolled the dice on having to tell the park people to get over it if they questioned her. (I haven't met any that were quite THAT anal retentive.) Any number of alternate endings, none of which required her to deal with that guy. She just didn't know what she was headed for.

I really have nothing more to add, but the thread has rocked the ridiculous scale so hard at this point that I almost hate to see it end. It's like watching Chevy Chase's 1,000th pratfall. Or a really slow train wreck. Can we start another Walmart thread now? Those are fun, too. 8P

About the only time we use the laundry at a RV park is when there are plenty of machines. Often, the places we have stayed have too few machines, and stopping at a city laundromat gets things done faster. With a family of 5, we have quite a bit of laundry to do and it's nice to have it all done in one cycle time.

Heck, a lot of the dryers now have digital readouts on the timer.

That's seriously paranoid. Soap itself is pretty anti-biotic. Soap breaks down cell walls and desiccates the bacteria.

I am going to patent the commercial dryer that sends a text message to your cell phone 10 minutes and 5 minutes before it stops, same with commercial washers.

If that doesn't make a mint, I'll buy Stacker Trailer that opens up into a laundry mat/waiting room for an additional retirement income while parked-up
