We have the exact same floor plan but ours is a 2003 245efs. It was an eastern one we bought at the pomona rv show a few years ago. We love the layout and have used it alot. I took the plastic panels off the bottom because we had mice using it as their floor. With the plastic panels off it has been easier to do upgrades. The only thing we do not like is the fold out couch. I also took apart the entertainment system and replaced the crt tv with a lcd one. I found that behind the stock tv was lots of room if i removed the side panels.

Thanks to all who have replied. Hey Jaminjer, how long is your truck-trailer together from tip to tip? pknoerzer, how hard was it to raise the trailer to match the truck? My truck is a 4x4 at stock height.
Many thanks,
Charles and Melanie

Charlie, you should be good to go if your truck is stock height. By the way, what kind of truck is it? That's important as far as weight limits. Also, depending on your truck, you might want to consider the bigger (full slide) 5er as some have suggested. I know you guys probably really like the 245 but believe it or not it will get small the more you use it. I've always been told, "find the 5er you really like and go one size bigger", if your tow vehicle can handle it. Two feet longer for a full slide is well worth it IMO.....

Hey Ken,
It is a 2001 Ford F350 C.C long bed 4x4. I do have 19.5" rims and tires on it with G rating. it is the factory height except for the increase in tire size.

Go with the full slide model Charlie. You've got plenty of truck and you won't regret it. I have a 27ft 2005 Keystone Copper Canyon with the full slide and I'm glad I got the full slide. I almost bought the same model you're looking at and now I'm glad I went a little bigger. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice 5er, but for the money go with the full slide.
How much higher did the tires raise your truck?

Charles:
We bought our 245 brand new in 2005. Have not had any issues with it. We wanted the 278, but that year they stopped sending them east. Wife loves the rear kitchen (more counter space). Have never found anything broken yet. As other's have said, make sure that length is going to work for you. The 276(RL)and the 278(RK) are not that much longer. We now have a 100 lb dog we didn't have when we made the purchase!
If you need any more info, feel free to PM me. Good Luck!

Ken, I think it was about 1 1/2" higher with the 19.5 rims and 245/70 tires.

Charles, I don't think you're going to notice 1 1/2". Now if you had a 5" or higher difference you might notice that. What I would do is wait until the 5er is hooked up to your truck and go from there. Just make sure you have the clearance between the truck rails and fiver. If I understand correctly it should be about 6". I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I hope your dealer is better than mine. If so, they should make sure your 5er is level before you take possession. Be sure to ask people that have bought from them about their service before you sign anything.....

We've got the 6 year old 276 in our sig, and have been very happy with it. Pulls easy, sets up nicely if I remember to hook up the blackwater hose before running the slide out. We try to go by the adage of "entertains 6, feeds 4, sleeps 2". DW and I like this size very well, and only thing we would change in the next 5er is to get a bedroom slide.
