2007 278 rks here and with one season down and lots of long distance travel for a good shakedown year (if it's gonna break let it break under warranty) I can say I'd buy the cougar again in a second. Love the rear kitchen and full slide. Quality is very good for a light 5ver. Minor warranty issues , slide needs adjustment, ac needs compressor. Actually the cougar is better quality than I expected from a mass manufacturer like keystone (thor)but while shopping we kept coming back to it and liked it better than other brands inside and out.

I have a 2002 Cougar 245 and love it. We do not have kids and have really enjoyed our Cougar and have been everywhere with it. It pulls great, I like the rear kitchen and for a smaller camper, storage is not bad. I have seen many that were much larger that I would not trade my 245 for. We have not had any issues with our Cougar. In my opinion, it is hard to beat, especially with its features and smaller size. It is easy to park and fits nicely into many areas, especially state parks where some of the larger rigs do not fit well. Larger 5th wheels have a lot more room inside, but their size can limit them on some campsites - I prefer the smaller variety that we can take anywhere - we have a 60 lb dog that has a kennel and she also fits without major problems. Primarily, we spend a lot of time outdoors and not indoors when camping so the smaller size really has worked well for us.

pknoerzer, how hard was it to raise the trailer to match the truck? My truck is a 4x4 at stock height.

Many thanks,

It is a pretty major job to weld spacers between the spring mounts and the frame. I had it done by Mor-Ryde and they installed their rubber equalizer suspension. Like others have said you might not have a clearance issue.

We have a 29RKS Cougar and it's great. The wife had to have the rear kitchen. The single slide simplifies things and there is still plenty of room. With regard to the sliding 5th wheel hitch, if you have a long bed you do not need the slider. They were made for short beds. We have the long bed and never have a problem. Enjoy!

Yes, we recently had a Cougar 24RKS and loved it. In the three years that we owned it, we pulled it to Alaska, Nova Scotia, and most of the US. With the rear kitchen, it was great, but the living area was a little small. We needed more space so, we traded in Dec for a 28 ft Cruiser by Crossroads. We never had any major problems with the Cougar. Only had 2 tire problems in the three years.
