Finally installed my Koni shocks yesterday. They have been on my work bench for a few weeks now. No time for a test ride. I have 4 Bilsteins that I took off if anyone local wants them. They were on the moho when I purchased it 4 years ago. The moho has 27k miles on it and dont know if the Bilsteins are orignal or added after.

Mike, looking forward to reading your driver impressions with the new Koni's. I have Bilsteins on my Bounder and thinking about a shock change. Jackel

We threw our (virtually new) Bilsteens in the trash after the Koni's install....the best improvement we have done to our motorhome!!

I have 4 Bilsteins with only 7,500 miles on them sitting on a shelf in the garage. Koni FSD's are, without a doubt, the best improvement I've made to the m/h. That includes larger rear sway bar, rear track bar and steer-safe. Nothing made a bigger impact on handling than the Koni's. With all of these...I'm a very happy camper!

I've installed Koni FSD's on two of my coaches now and on one of them I replaced regular (non-FSD) Koni's. It still amazes me how much difference they made in the handling and safety of both coaches. Most bang for the buck of any upgrade I've made to a motorhome...

Those Koni's have been on my agenda to buy one day, but they are sooo expensive. Do you know how much GAS your can buy with the cost of these?? Not Much!!!

Just bought a set of Konis for my 2002 Adventurer 32v. Haven't driven it yet, I have one more to install after I get a breaker bar. But I was suprised that they didn't appear to be gas charged and the rear shock didn't have a boot to protect the rod from stones. I expected more features from a top of the line shock.

Not sure which shocks you bought. Did you buy the FSD's? If you didn't, you got the wrong shocks. It's the FSD's that make the big difference. All the FSD's I've seen have a metal cover over the rod.

"Gas Charged" is not really a "feature". Koni FSD's do not need to be gas charged because they are of a dual tube design - one reason they are more expensive. The piston rides in an inner tube which is surrounded by fluid. Single tube shocks are cheaper to build and need gas charging which helps keep the fluid from foaming which single tube shocks are prone to do. One advantage of gas charged shocks is they can work at any angle but they have much more internal friction and much less flexibility on damping profiles because all the valving must be contained in the piston whereas the Koni FSD's have valving both in the piston and in a "foot" valve at the bottom of the inner tube.

Probably more than you wanted to know. Suggest you make sure you got the FSD's though.

When I got new Bilsteins I didn't feel much difference until I got a few hundred miles on them (traffic, roads, and weather were too good the first few hundred).

When I got further down the road, started to notice much better and smoother ride. No porpoising, better handling, quicker response to wind buffeting. After the change I didn't feel the need to do any work on the suspension or steering. Twenty odd thousand miles later I still feel that way.

I'm happy to have saved all that money compared to Konis. And I like having the lifetime warranty on them.

I understand that the OEM version (not sure they still come on new RVs) of the Bilstein's weren't very good. I have no complaints about my replacement version of the shocks.
