Although the wheelbase is a bit short, like the Liberty from the other Jeep Tow thread, the GC has a wider track, stouter frame and that Hemi! Keep in mind that a 25' trailer will actually be closer to 27 or 28' when adding in the tongue. Like others have mentioned, get a decent WDH and anti-sway setup.

If you have kids it's almost certain that you'll want a bigger trailer than you start off with. I'd suggest getting something with separate sleeping for the kids. Breaking down the table and couch to make beds gets real old, real fast.

Is that just your opinion or can you back that up with some more info?

I love Jeeps and I'm slowly shopping for my third one. I currently tow a light 18-footer with my Grand Cherokee (very very Hemiless). My only gripe against it will be cured by that blessed Hemi.

Even without, these rigs climb like mad goats. There is nothing paved that my GC and 18-ft TT can't roar up in 2nd at 45--I mean it's scary.

Er, set aside money for your next transmission. Some years are better than others, but none of them have the durability of a rental Kia.

One of the interesting features of my '08 JGC is the built-in anti-sway function. It automatically detects sway and varies the braking power to individual wheels so as to conteract and dampen the sway. Hopefully I won't need to test this!

I'll be adding dual cam sway control to my existing Reese WD hitch, just to be extra safe.

Skinny, The anti sway function or stability control will have no positive effect on your TT (someone correct me if there is something new on the market that I am unaware of). In fact, I would disable the stability control while towing. If you were to get into a swaying condition and your tow vehicle starts to engage its brakes it could make the situation much worse. However I use to tow my wilderness 24 LZ with a 4.7l Durango. The Durango was slightly wider but the wheel base was the same and it towed like a dream.

I stand corrected!! Chrysler has included trailer towing in their stability control. Now I gotta try this!!

I think that you are a little low on the loaded weight, you will probably be closer to 6500, but you should do okay. The main issue for you is going to be the shorter wheelbase of your TV. I tow with a HEMI and it is a great puller, you won't run out of power at that weight. Stopping the load and sway control would be the issues that come to mind...

Yep, if you don't have one, ADD a tranny temp gauge. I've seen my temps rise dangerously high. You can buy one from summit for $60.

SemperFiCop, I believe the GCWR is 11,400 and the payload is 1190.

Vapor, thanks for the suggestions. I don't have any kids, and I usually go camping with only the girlfriend so I won't need to set up beds.

My current TT is a little Fun Finder X160. One reason I'm trading up is because I'm tired of setting up the dinette bed. (And the other is that I now own a JGC w/ a hemi!)
