I was told by a friend of mine that he leaves his refrigerator on the lowest setting while his trailer is in storage and plugged in to shore power. Is there any truth to this, what is the general consensus on this? Will it shorten the life of the refrigerator, etc.

Thanks,
Wayne

I bought my motorhome november 2005, the only time I turn the frig off is at the gas pump.

Before we put our 5er into storage, we turn off and empty the fridge, and then we hang a sock filled with about a cup of ground coffee in both the freezer and fridge compartments and close the doors.

When going into storage for an extended period, I turn the frig off and open the doors for a couple days to let it thoroughly dry. Then I close the doors with a box of baking soda in it. Then I turn it back on a few days prior to heading out again.

Why have it running in storage? Empty it, clean it and leave the doors cracked open.

Some will say the frig will last longer if it is never turned off.
