Well, I wasn't really happy with yesterdays start. But then it came to me last night!

This first pic is what I was working around...wanted to mount a piano hinge underneath..but no luck, as you can see the Formica hangs down past half-inch wood.

I lost 2.5inchs in order for it to close proper.

That's exactly what I did with mine - used shims under the bottom of the shelf as my hinges mounted to the cabinet side... Can't see a lot of detail but heres a picture of mine... My dealer procured some counter top material and trim for me as well as the hinges so it matches the existing counter tops...

Your extension looks intriguing. What are the names of the hinges/support that you're using and where did you get them? Thanks.

LAdams, yours looks like it came with the trailer! Nice touch getting the same counter material.
