If you're sure it's ABS, then I'd use the ABS glue as well. I once repaired a poly tank with hot glue. I first melted the crack together, then melted in a good bead of hot glue while it was still hot. Held for years in pounding seas.
I have always heard that it is wise to drill a small hole at both ends of a crack, to stop it from spreading, before you glue it. When I was a whitewater canoer several years ago there was an epoxy designed for patching ABS canoes. Friends of mine used it and it worked well (on canoes). It should work on any ABS product.
Last summer I helped a newbie friend repair his Black Tank. It also had a crack on the top side of his tank. ACE Hardware has a two stage glue, that will work on both ABS or PVC. Once you have mixed the two parts, it makes a permante bond, that will not re-crack or split next to the old crack. It works just as good, if not better than someone that knows how to do Plastic Welding. And it is not expensive. We didn't even have to lower the Tank or Drop it to make the Repair. I also carry this Kit as well, as the other Roof Repair products that I carry. We like being ready for any kind of repair, at any time or any palce. NO RV Repair Shop, will ever see our 5er for any reason. As I have been doing all of my own RV repairs for the last 40+ years now. I'm probably better than most RV Tech's anyways. At least for me, I don't find anything on any RV thats hard to do it yourself. I spend all winter, going over every inch of our 5er, inside and outside and top side. Its called Provetive Maintence. And it really does pay off doing it evey year, as we have neve broken down. But I sure have helped out a lot of other RV'er over the years. Good Luck. Happy Camping, Dan & Jill
