Hi,
I have a 1994 Fleetwood Coronado that I have owned for 4 years it has a gas saftey switch inside the coach down by the fridge. It has a green light when lit and beeps loudly when it goes out. Recently its been hard to get started and takes 4 or 5 tries before it gets going, this past weekend was the first time it went out while we were asleep, twice at that anyone have any suggestions?

You are talking about the LPG detector that will shut off the gas if a leak is detected. I have never had a problem with mine, but it will beep on a low battery. I have heard that a dog can set one off, also certain sprays will also set it off. A gas leak will also set it off.

LPG detectors can be set off by a number of things besides just LP gas. Some of these include:

Low battery voltage in the coach.

Hair sprays, deodorants and other aerosols.

Glues, perfumes, lacquer, gasoline and even alcoholic beverages

The thing with the green light is your propane leak detector, so either 1)you have a propane leak or 2) something other than propane is setting it off (Hairspray or something like that) or 3) the detector has gone bad.

And sometimes they just go bad too!.......the one in my '96 Bounder went bad and it would no longer detect propane......I tried cleaning it and eventually I just replaced it......$60 later all was well again!

Those units often go bad. I have heard some say 5 years is a good life. Take it out and call the factory. The number is usually on the unit, usually on the back. They will advise you. Most usually replace the unit.

First: it is not a "Gas Safety Switch" it is an "explosive gas detector"

now,,, It may be connected to a gas safety valve (Which is mounted on the tank) some have 'em some don't

The detectors need periodic replacements,, I'm not sure but 5 years seems about right

Same for smoke and CO detectors...> Same time frame too.
