Hello~
We are buying our 1st NEW fifth-wheel. We are new to camping and have a 2004 Hitchhiker LSII that we camped in for 3 months this winter. We are looking at a Cardinal (by Forest river) 34 QRL. Anybody have this model or can anyone help us with information on the Cardinal fifth-wheels? We love the floor plan.....just a little nervous about the purchase being we are so new to this lifestyle!

Thank you so much for any information.

Just always take your time before driving off, double check everything, is the hitch locked?, are the jacks up?, is the trailer plug connected?, TV antenna down?, steps in? trailer door locked? compartments locked? Kids in truck?

This is some things, just remember the #1 thing...... Have fun.......

Have a great time camping,
Terry

Cardinal is nice, but personally we found that the Cedar Creek was better for us. There was just a few items that we did not like in the Cardinal that the Cedar Creek had. Personal preferences. Forest River builds a nice unit for the price point. Just do not expect to live in ND winters in it! Or anything less than a Teton for that matter.

We bought the HHII used as we had NEVER camped before and thought we better see if we liked it, which we found out we do! Loved the HH, just want to get a new fifth-wheel. I really don't care for the furniture upholstery in the HH.

Way cheaper to change furniture than a new fiver.

Probably for less than $3000 you could replace the kitchen chairs, sofa, chairs directly from Hitchhiker. Seems a much better way to go. My HH is a 93 and still going strong. Since some here have given the same suggestion, I suggest you split the savings with us.

We have thought of this...and the chairs could easily be removed, but we don't think we can get the sofa to fit thru the door...and then to get a new one in. Someone told us that alot of times the furniture is put in before the last slide is put on??? We have measured and measured but just don't know how we can get that to work? Anyone ever replaced their furniture, and how did it go?

Thank you all.....we appreciate any and all suggestions!

The couch should fit threw the door. We just replaced all of our carpet and went to a higher end residential carpet and put in wood floors instead of the cheap vinyl flooring in our Eagle which cost us well under $1000 and I did the labor except for the carpet install. Unless you just want a new 5th wheel which I can understand that you should be able to make the changes you want.

The Cardinals are nice units but I'm with donno and think that the Cedar Creeks are nicer for about the same money and it's the same manufacture Forest River.

I don't want to start a war here but the HH is considered by some to be a better rig than what you mentioned. You can go to www.nuwaowners.org for some help with new furniture, etc. good luck
