I am having a problem solving a leak around my bedroom outlet. When it rains heavy water will come in there. I have sealed the seam on top and also around the light. Still leaks.

I took a water hose so I could control where the water was on the trailer. Then I had my DW watch with a flashlight while I ran the water from the hose accross the side until she saw water coming in. This helped me isolate the leak.

Find a dealer that can perform a Leak Detection before it is to late. Runs around $100.00 if out of warranty. Worked for my Cougar.Leak Detection

Having had this same problem several times with my former Cougar I'm fairly confident saying that the entry point for the leak is in one of the front corners where the rubber membrane meets the front cap. There's a metal strip that runs the width of the trailer, and it's caulked to the rubber membrane. There's most likely a small crack in the caulking in one or both of the corners. Making it worse, this is a low spot that the water puddles in.

Rain water running out of the bedroom outlets is unfortunately a standard Cougar 5th wheel feature. My best guess is that there is flexing of the front cap as you bounce down the road, and when you transfer weight between the pin and the landing gear. On mine, the ends of the metal trim strip weren't securely fastened down which contributed to the problem. I finally looked at recaulking the corners every year or two as a standard maintenance item. If you haven't done any roof caulking before, make sure you use the right stuff for EDPM roofing. Removing the old caulk is easier if you do it on a hot sunny day (wearing sunglasses!), or use a hair dryer.

Ditto Wayne Dohnal's post. I had the exact same leak as yours on my Cougar. Chased it for months! While at the beach it cam e arain and I was determined to find and fix the leak. After the rain stopped, I eternabonded the entire seam on front where the rubber meets the ABS cap and was sure I had fixed it. Next rain it still leaked. I recaulked the metal strip running vertically as well as the corners and bingo! It is fixed.

YEh Thanks.. I too caulked the entire seam to no avail. Still leaked.
Today I did as you and Wayne said and hopefully that will work when I get the next rain.Guess it is a Cougar trait I'm finding out...

Well I guess I'm now joining this not-so-exclusive club. My brand-new Cougar 243RKS is leaking - Carpet is wet beside the bed, adjacent to the front door, but the water is not coming in through the door opening itself.
Have a call into the dealer, who is 450 miles away....
