Hello all!

The DW and I area going to be camping in our home State of Washington. We live close to Seattle and were wondering if some fellow campers could recommend some nice parks. One with full hookups would be best as we are new to rving and don't have the gear for dry camping. If you have pictures that would be even better! thanks and see you on the road.....Bill

The only one we've been to is Larrabee SP (I may have the spelling wrong) near Bellingham. Nice wooded CG, some sites with FHU - I remember noticing them because SPs in our area don't have FHU and we thought this was remarkable. Small sheltered beach in the park as well. We stopped for a picnic on a drive between Vancouver & Seattle; haven't camped there but drove thru the CG in our rental car.

I second Grayland State Park. Also you can't go wrong with Cape Disappointment State Park.
Many of the WA State Parks are very good. Depends on what you are looking for...beach, lakes, river, mountains, eastern WA..??

How far a drive were you thinking...right in your neighborhood or a couple of hours drive? Fort Flagler State Park (by Port Townsend) or Dosewallips State Park (by Brinnon) would be nice first time outings...have you visited the State Parks website? It's a great site -- LOTS of information, photos, campsite maps, etc. Wherever you go, I hope you have fun!

We have stayed at Wanapum Dam State Park several times and it is a great location, especially for spring/early summer trips. It is 3 miles South of I90 at Vantage, WA. Water sports activities as well as the Ginko Petrified Forest exhibit are all at this location.

Thanks all. I was thinking about 3 hours from Seattle. I have checked out and used the WA State Parks Webpage and found most of the sites are booked into June and July. So any ideas on private parks? Thanks again.

Try Manchester, over by Port Orchard. They have power and water at each site, as well as a sewer dump at the exit.

I'm sure Belfair is booked up by now, except for weekdays, since it is so popular. Easton, just east of Snoqualime Pass, is nice. In Cle Elum, on the south side of I-90, is a private park, possibly Whispering Pines if my memory holds. Good luck. JMHO

A small but nice state park is Bayview Water and electricity but no sewer hookups. Lots to do in this area.

A nice "get-a-way" park on the Skagit River is Howard Miller in Rockport. Not a lot to do but if you want to sit and relax, it works! Good fishing in the area!

Just down the road from us is Birch Bay

I haven't stayed here but my RV friends say Pioneer Park near Anacortes is nice. Close to Deception Pass, Nothern Lights Casino, LaConner etc.

Happy Camping!
