Cannot be left up in winds/rain. So...if the wind or a good rainstorm comes up during the night - you'd have to get up and close it.
It is a cool idea, but I hadn't thought about this little problem; and from the looks of the pics (unless I am not seeing things the way I think I am), when you put down the loft, you lose your sleeper sofa that is in the loft so when you get up in the night to close it, you end up displacing anyone sleeping up there - is that what other see?
If you using as a bed, then yes, I see it the same way. If it's just being used as a sitting area - no one would be displaced.
I just keep thinking about a couple of weekends ago out here in the California Desert - at about 2:00am an awful noise woke us up and shaking - turns out the wind gusts decided to pick up and it spent the next 20 minutes blowing so hard it was rocking and shaking the trailer.
I'm thinking at that point, the last thing I'd want to worry about was whether or not I needed to close the loft or displace some sleepy child or adult and try to find somewhere for them to finish a night's sleep while I push the button to pull the loft in.

MY wife and I often discuss RV design and believe that the designers of Rvs never use them. This could be one of those cases.

We saw one last weekend at our local RV dealer. The upstairs loft part is awesome. I liked the placement of the stairs in the garage area. There was a closet under the stairs too, no wasted space. They will have to do something about the increasing cargo carrying capacity, as our touring bike weighs 500 lbs. We told the dealer to let us know when they come out with a fifth wheel version!

According to the Keystone website for the Loft it has a shipping weight of 6410lbs. The cargo is listed as 1375lbs for the 27L. I walked through it a the RV and Boat show in Chicago this year and it was really cool. It looked like the loft could be lowered without interfering with the queen bed arrangement.

I question the weights sited... they are not listed on the web for the loft model unless the 27L is the loft, but I don't know it is...
similar lifts have been on slide in's for years, just not as tall, and it is nothing more than incorporating a pup into a toy hauler... and the wind wouldn't be any more of a problem that it is for the pup...
I am sure that area isn't cooled by the AC so wouldn't increase the cooling load much...
I have not seen one yet but can't wait... I bet they are pretty nice...

Yeah, I question the weights also as the brochure had a different weight listed. The brochure did list it as a 27L, but their website can be wrong as it has been it the past, but I digress. It is a sweet trailer.
